During the press conference announcing the addition of Washington D.C. to the Arena Football League, the new home jersey for the Portland Steel was revealed.
The first glimpse of the Steel jersey was taken by Washington's Instagram account as well as staff members of ArenaFan.
The Steel are a little over two weeks out from playing its season opener against the Arizona Rattlers. Up to this point, aside from the new logos and new helmet, there's been nothing in regards to the team's uniforms. We do know that Under Armor is taking over for Russell Athletic as the official uniform provider of the AFL. This was confirmed when the Philadelphia Soul revealed its new uniforms on Tuesday.
Here's the image from the conference. What do you think of the new jersey? Image Credits: ArenaFan / Facebook

these are kind of just bleh. they're not real impressive. maybe they'll look better when the players are wearing them.

They seem to have gone on the safe side with the design, Maybe they're trying to stay as far away from the more unique designs the Thunder had with Russell. I suspect it was just a simple jersey they made on a time constraint. Maybe if the team lasts into 2017, they'll overhaul the uniforms with more of a unique design.

with everything which has gone on over the past few months, i'm not surprised the uniforms are a no frills type of thing. we should not have expected much more than that. do you think they picked a color which could be used for every game? i mean something which would not conflict with anyone else's colors? that way they would not have to worry about paying for away jerseys.

I wouldn't think the AFL would only produce the home set of uniforms. Common sense says to me that they're going to have a white uniform for the road, and it's probably going to look even more vanilla than the dark jersey. Portland's second road game is April 9th against Arizona. We should know by then if they're sticking to the navy jersey all year or if they have a white set. The only times (that I can think of) where a team only wore one set of jerseys throughout the year? The '07 Spokane Shock (the white jerseys weren't ready until near the end of the season) and the '14 Las Vegas Outlaws (didn't pay their dry cleaning bill, wore white most of the season). Portland *could* go the Wichita Falls route (their road jerseys are all yellow) but I don't see any other colors outside of grey that they could use.
