That was definitely pass interference on the Gladiators player before the interception. Typical AFL officiating.

What a horrible way to lose such a competitive game. Still, I think with another week, Austin is going to be more on his game.

I've watched that play 3 times. Contact within 10 yards is legal, yes?
That was beyond 10 yards and he clearly had his hands on Goard's back. Should have been Pass Interference.

I have to say, i am encouraged. we have to cut down on the turnovers, but tonight we showed more fight than we have all season.

I know it's only one drive, but Austin looks a lot more precise than what I've seen from Southwick and Peters. You guys have seen more of the game than I. How's the offensive line held up? Still bad or is Austin getting the ball out quick enough to put a band-aid over it? The line did a good job. I don't remember Austin being sacked all night. He did have five interceptions though.

This could be a turnaround game for the Steel. Shane will get better, and the team has shown some fight on defense. I am looking forward to the upcoming games!

We thought about it, but the past month has been crazy with me finishing my first year of college, and Jessica and Heidi graduating from Cal. Everyone was just too busy. What's more important: graduating college, or the Blazers in the playoffs? Come on, get your priorities straight! Lol, just giving ya a hard time. Congrats on surviving your first year, and to them for graduating. Thanks! It meant a lot. I feel like I have come really far.

Still a potential to see it turn around, but some interesting stats according to the AFL's record book.
Darron Thomas threw 5 INT last week against LA. Shane Austin threw 5 INT this week against Cleveland.
Both Thomas and Austin threw for the 2nd most interceptions in a single game.
The current list is as follows
T-1. Sherdrick Bonner, Arizona Rattlers - 6 INT (vs New York Dragons, 2005) T-1. Brian Zbydniewsk, Cleveland Gladiators - 6 INT (vs San Antonio Talons, 2013) T-3. Shane Austin & Darron Thomas, Portland Steel, 2016.
Prior to Austin and Thomas, the last game to feature 5 INT in a game was Dan Raudabaugh (Philadelphia Soul) vs San Antonio in 2013.

Once again, thank you to everyone for coming tonight! It turned out to be an exciting game even thought the Steel lost in the end. There were a lot of good things for the Steel tonight. It is going to be fun watching them throughout the rest of the season. Thank you to DiamondThief for a terrific preview! Thank you to Yeseeka and Kasey for being here throughout the game. Thank you to David and newellbrian for stopping in. A win is in the near future. Can you feel it? I can! Go Steel!

Also, strange that AFLDigital lists Austin's stats as being credited to Darron Thomas.... that's bizarre.

Also, strange that AFLDigital lists Austin's stats as being credited to Darron Thomas.... that's bizarre. I swear I remembered five interceptions, but I know one was called back because of a penalty so I figured it was just that. Maybe the league will correct it. Austin was wearing #10 on his jersey which is the same number as Thomas wore last week. That might be their confusion.
