ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Chargers are expected to announce as soon as Thursday that the franchise will be moving to Los Angeles. The Chargers will be returning to Los Angeles, where the franchise began in 1960 before moving to San Diego in 1961. It also marks the first time since the 1994 NFL Season that Los Angeles will have two franchises (LA Raiders, LA Rams). As most know, the Rams moved to St. Louis prior to the 1995 season and the Raiders moved to Oakland. The full story is here: www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18455802/chargers-expected-announce-move-san-diego-los-angelesI'm mixed on it. The Rams back to LA makes sense. The Chargers to LA is just weird.

I've been expecting this for a while. In fact I was surprised when they didn't relocate last year. Feel bad for the fans in SD.

I have not talked to a single person in L.A. who is not unimpressed.

I have not talked to a single person in L.A. who is not unimpressed. I don't blame them. The Chargers have been a mediocre franchise for the past 9 seasons and they just seem to struggle to get above an average record. This is honestly a dumb move for the franchise. LA's already got one terrible NFL team, why would they want to root for another one? If anybody gets screwed in this, it's the fans in San Diego... at least the dedicated ones that remained since the Owner has no idea how to put together a competitive team. I have heard that if the Raiders deal in Las Vegas fails, San Diego is their 2nd best choice... that'd just be weird. The San Diego Raiders? Yeesh.

IMO the Chargers have a better chance at being good than the Rams. If the Chargers can start winning close games they would be in the playoffs. The Rams have to rebuild around Goff who may or not completely suck. Also, the Chargers have the PR of "We sell out every game at the StubHub Center" which will be funny because that venue is small as far as NFL attendance goes. However, it will be a different experience going to those games.

Chargers introduced a new logo today as well. It's been mocked on Twitter and other websites since it was revealed. Case in point:
