4/19/17 --
The Indoor Football League has been widely compared to the National Football League.
Teams use the run like they do in the NFL to set up the pass. The scores are closer and not of shootout variety. The defenses get more stops in the Indoor Football League than they do in the Arena Football League.
Teams in the IFL teams have good scouting departments to obtain new talent and fill-ins for injured players. The IFL guys are experienced players, thus NFL teams will come knocking because they can be relied upon to fill roles when current stars go down.
They are well conditioned athletes and they are going to have to be because they will be active for almost a year playing nonstop football, a demanding game that takes its toll on you. The Buffalo Bills were the first too get in on the indoor craze signing two from the AFL's Philadelphia Soul.
Scouting departments have been watching these guys since camp opened in Feburary. Players like Crush kicker Spencer Groner, Nighthawks' quarterback Charles McCallum, and Screaming Eagles' quarterback Verlon Reed likely will be given opportunities. But, but will they hold up physically too this demanding stretch.
Playoff time in the IFL is right around the corner. The pressure environment will give NFL personnel a good indication of how well these indoor stars can translate to the next level.
The two games are entirely different but remember its still football, and a football player is still a football player no matter what league.
This week the Salt Lake City Screaming Eagles travel to Nebraska for a rematch with the Danger. They have been playing well of late falling short in the last couple of minutes the last three weeks. This will not happen this week as the Eagles get win number two in a critical road upset 67-57.
Next week, You say you like Youtube? We are going too discuss the impact of putting games on Youtube, whether it's the IFL and arenafootball in general. Is it good or is it bad? We will weigh in.
