The fans have heard that the current Screaming Eagles ownership group will be having a league next year, but not a team.
The question before us is that of the team's status in 2018 and beyond. I have seen this situation before coming over from the AFL. We had franchises fold every season, and lost five franchises coming into this season. Thus, an idea is needed to save the team.
Investors are worried about the indoor/arena landscape thus they are not running to the rescue like they did years ago.
The San Antonio Talons franchise waited a whole season for a owner that never came. Las Vegas was denied a hard earned playoff berth because their owner bailed on them. Portland, like San Antonio, waited all last year for an owner that never came.
This may not be true in the Eagles case because there may be a generous benefactor out there that could save the team. If there isn't, here is a suggestion that might have merit. The current ownership group could choose too give a piece of the team to a person who could run the operation and represent the team at league functions.
That person might even be in the group now. The people who bought into the concept could be offered a chance to buy ownership shares in the team for $2.500. The team could then continue with the FANchise model.
This would not disappoint the teams fans and keep the league from losing a team.
I think in Colorado's case the best solution is an outright sale. This week the Screaming Eagles travel to Spokane and I look for a win 71-65 that will bring the franchise together. Next week: Can you see the similarity between Kyle Shannon and Matt Sauk. We will analyze.
