PHOENIX, AZ - Jamal Miles caught four touchdown passes and ran for another as the Arizona Rattlers ran away with the 64-29 win over the Green Bay Blizzard tonight.
With the Blizzard ahead 14-7 early in the second quarter, Miles went to work, accounting for four straight Rattlers' scores. The first came on a five-yard pass from Cody Sokol. His touchdown run came with 1:45 left in the second quarter, and he scored with seven seconds left in the first half on an eight-yard pass from Sokol.
Miles struck back when he caught Sokol's two-yard pass with just over eight minutes to go in the third to put the Rattlers up 36-14. The Blizzard would cut into that on Dorian Buford's 38-yard pass from Matt Behrendt, but the Rattlers would score twice in a 30-yard run from Darrell Monroe and Miles' 19-yard pass from Sokol.
The Rattlers ended the game with a pair of touchdown runs, three yards from Jon Wolf and 17 yards from Fred Williams, respectively.
Arizona dominated in all major statistical categories. They had 340 total yards of offense, including 207 rushing yards. Green Bay amassed 256. The Blizzard had 13 penalties for 79 yards and the Rattlers had six for 40 yards. The Rattlers forced three turnovers in the game.
Sokol completed 11 of 18 passes for 113 yards and five touchdowns. Miles had five catches for 38 yards to go with his four touchdowns. Fred Williams caught four passes for 62 yards and ran for a 17-yard score. Monroe and Jon Wolf also had ruching touchdowns for the Rattlers. Adam Sauder led Arizona with seven total tackles. Allen Chapman and Arkeith Brown each recorded an interception.
Behrendt completed just 32 percent of his passes for 165 yards, four touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. He also rushed three times for 56 yards. Marquel Willis led the Blizzard with four grabs for 67 yards and two scores. Jack Bramswig and Buford caught touchdown passes of 45 and 38 yards, respectively. Karl Mickelsen and A.J. Downs led Green Bay with 6.5 tackles apiece.
The Rattlers (5-4) will visit the Cedar Rapids Titans (1-9) on May 5 at 5:05 p.m. The Blizzard (2-8) are at home to face the Iowa Barnstormers (7-2) on May 6 for a 5:05 p.m. kickoff. All times are pacific time. Both of those games, as well as all of the leagues games this season are available for streaming on the IFL's Youtube channel.
