GRAND ISLAND, NE - The Nebraska Danger broke out to a 23-0 lead and never looked back as they picked up a week 11 win over the Cedar Rapids, 50-38.
Rob Brown scored on a three-yard run midway through the first quarter, then the Danger went up 9-0 on a 19-yard field goal from Nicholas Giaffoglione. A pair of six-yard Patrick McCain touchdown passes to Dimitri Stimphil put Nebraska up 23-0 with 51 seconds left in the first half.
The Titans got on the board 13 seconds later on Brion Carnes' seven-yard pass to Tre Parmalee.
In the third quarter, Stimphil caught his third touchdown of the night, and Brown caught a 24 yard pass from McCain to put the Danger up 37-6.
Cedar Rapids scored 16 points in each of the third and fourth quarters but, by then, the damage had been done.
Statistically, the game was relatively even with the Titans gaining 269 yards of total offense to Nebraska's 253. They also held the edge in passing yards, 230 to 176. The Danger held the advantage in rushing yards, 77 to 39. The Titans were penalized 11 times for 54 yards, while the Danger were flagged seven times for 47 yards.
McCain completed 15 of 23 passes for 176 yards with five touchdowns and an interception. Brown rushed nine times for 46 yards for a score and added a receiving touchdown on four catches for 50 yards. Stimphil had six receptions for 53 yards with three trips to the end zone. Carl Sims tallied three receptions for 40 yards. Trey Wafford led the Danger with nine total tackles. Nokolas Sierra and Jamar Love had interceptions.
Carnes went 20 of 39 for 230 yards, three touchdowns and two picks. Connor Hollenbeck led the Titans with 92 receiving yards on six catches and a touchdown. Parmalee caught six balls for 76 yards and a pair of scores. Jamuel Jones had five catches for 42 yards and Julian Hayes scored a rushing touchdown. Robert Haynes led the Cedar Rapids defense with seven total tackles and a fumble recovery. Marcus Barnett recovered a fumble and Tony Grimes had an interception.
The Danger (6-4) will visit the Wichita Falls Nighthawks (8-2) on May 5 at 4:05 p.m. The Titans (1-9) will host the Arizona Rattlers (5-4) the same night with a 5:05 p.m. All times are pacific time.
