Kyle Shanahan is one of the most brilliant minds in the National Football League.
He has built explosive offensives everywhere he goes and now makes a move into the head coaching ranks with the San Francisco 49ers where success will greet him at some point.
In the indoor game a carbon copy of Shannon exists in the form of Matthew Sauk of the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles.
Coach Sauk is a Michigan native with a longtime connection to Utah as a. He was a head coach in the Arena Football League with the Portland Thunder. He also has been an offensive coordinator with the Spokane Shock, Utah Blaze, Los Angeles KISS and Orlando Predators.
He is known in arena and indoor football circles as an offensive genius. He gets the most out of his players. The players love him for his dedication and enthusiasm that he brings to the game.
Coach Sauk will not let his players quit and it showed this past Sunday in the game with Spokane. The situation in Utah is not good for him right now but when it improves and some of the roster comes back next year he might have the building blocks for a title contending team.
Coach Sauk would be a coach of the year candidate if his team were winning and he still might be as the team has a chance to reach .500 for the season and, with luck, a playoff berth. Thanks to the AFL's liberal playoff format in 2014, he led the Thunder to a playoff berth with a 5-13 record.
The players believe, the fans and owners must get behind him and the dream will come true but you must believe.
This week we were impressed with the Eagles play last week and we feel the time for them too produce is now as they will in a 77-70 win over Colorado for a beginning to there playoff push.
Next week: Should local media give the IFL more coverage? Why or Why not?
