Hey SCtoC! It is me spiderfan here and today I welcome you back to yet another edition of my Random Thoughts & Stuff (If you have any suggestions for a better name leave them down below) and here are my takeaways from Week 2:
Deshaun Watson is better than Tom Savage
This should be no surprise coming from me, but especially after TNF it is apparent Watson is better than Savage. He made the plays that won the game for the Texans and was a playmaker for sure. I hope the Texans don't get destroyed against the Patriots.
The Bengals are... REALLY bad.
No TDs in 2 games? At home? This of course got the Bengals OC fired and we will see what that does to effect the offensive play. Andy Dalton has regressed and Marvin Lewis may be facing his last year with the Bengals. Personally, the Bengals IMO should switch to AJ McCarron and see if he can create the spark that Dalton clearly hasn't. The Bengals aren't doing that and will go with Dalton for the foreseeable future most likely. If Lewis ends up getting fired and Dalton is either benched or doesn't play this season, I see him getting traded to the Redskins in the event of Kirk Cousins leaving to the 49ers. Calling it now.
The Saints defense is holding back Drew Brees
I know that it is not original to say that, but it is true. Last week, the Saints defense was destroyed by Sam Bradford with him having his best game ever. This week, Tom Brady had an excellent game and no doubt regained his confidence after being shut down by the Chiefs D last week. The Saints are now 0-2 and will probably go 7-9... again.
Why won't the Saints use Adrian Peterson?
This is a question that IMO should not be asked, but is being asked because the Saints aren't using Adrian Peterson. The Saints brought him in and appear as if they don't want him there, so then the question becomes why did the Saints sign him in the first place? I've thought about for a while and still can't come up with a good reason. Somebody should trade for him IMO.
Same old Chargers
I thought that in a new city, new stadium, and having a new coach would change the fortunes of the snakebit Chargers. Turns out none of things effected anything and the Chargers are still snakebit. Younghoe Koo is this season's version of Blair Walsh and now the Chargers are 0-2. Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates deserve better but they are probably going to stay career Chargers.
Afrats was right about the Broncos
Afrats said this on September 1st: Mark my words...Broncos go 13-3, 12-4 at the worst.
After watching that Cowboys game I believe it. This may be overreacting but if the Patriots have to go into Denver in the playoffs, they are not leaving with a win. The Raiders may not make it out either. So Kudos to you afrats!
The Cowboys were beat at their own game
There were a number of missed plays by the Cowboys that would have made the game closer. That doesn't change the fact that Dak was off and the Cowboys got their butt kicked. Not only that but the Broncos won by running the football and with accurate passing by Siemian, who has played great football the last 2 weeks. The Cowboys should be able to bounce back in the coming weeks, so hopefully they can get this loss behind them.
Other random notes:
-The Seahawks seem to be all defense and that is not good.
-The Chiefs are legit. The Jags aren't.
-The Raiders looked awesome against the Jets and should continue to be awesome.
-Big Ben played better and I may have called his demise too early. Palmer has shown little signs of not being on his way out though.
-Can the Bears just play Trubisky already?
-Angi is right about the Bills and Bucs being good.
-Jay Cutler is better than Tannehill, like I said in my video about Cutler being signed.
-The Colts were in position to win the game against the Cardinals and... didn't, they still stink.
-The Lions win MNF. Calling it.
ROAD TO 0-16
7 teams currently do not have a win. I will do this segment until every team in the NFL has a win.
Teams that currently don't have a win:
NY Jets
LA Chargers
Cincinnati Bengals
Cleveland Browns
Indianapolis Colts
San Francisco 49ers
Chicago Bears
New Orleans Saints
Only 12 percent of teams that start 0-2 make the playoffs and I don't see any of these teams doing that. Teams most likely to go 0-16 IMO are the Jets, 49ers, and Colts.
ROAD TO 16-0
9 teams currently do not have a loss. I will do this segment until every team in the NFL has a loss.
Teams that currently don't have a loss:
-Miami Dolphins
-Tampa Bay Buccaneers
-Denver Broncos
-Oakland Raiders
-Kansas City Chiefs
-Baltimore Ravens
-Pittsburgh Steelers
-Carolina Panthers
-Atlanta Falcons
Teams most likely to go 16-0 IMO are the Raiders and Falcons.
I'll give my thoughts on MNF after the game. I'm also still doing my Q&A so if you have any sort of question to ask me, feel free to leave them down below!
That does it for Week 2. Onto Week 3! This is spiderfan out.
