FINAL - Storm 70, Titans 33

SIOUX FALLS, SD - Wide receiver Harrold caught five touchdown passes, and running back Lyle McCombs rushed for three, and the Sioux Falls Storm ran away with a 70-33 win over the Cedar Rapids Titans tonight.
It was the Storm's first win of the young season. The 70 points was a single team high thus far in 2018.
Quarterback Lorenzo Brown opened up the scoring, running in from 14 yards to give Sioux Falls the early lead. The Titans came back on the next drive, soring on a 16-yard pass from Jake Medlock to Marquel Wade. Brown found Harrold on a 7-yard touchdown and the Storm led 13-6 at the end of the opening quarter.
Medlock found Wade again to start the second quarter; this time from five yards out and the contest was knotted at 13 apiece. Then it was the McComb show. The running back out of the University of Connecticut scored on runs of 11, 17 and 1 yards out to put the Storm up 33-13 at intermission.
The lead was extended to 40-13 just five minutes into the third quarter when Brown hit Harrold for a 19-yard touchdown. Medlock found wade for 20 yards three minutes later to cut the Storm lead to 40-21. Harrold caught his third touchdown of the night, this time from backup quarterback Dillon Turner. Cedar Rapids narrowed the lead to 47-27 with Medlock's 19-yard pass to Connor Hollenbeck with 3:35 left in the third. The Storm then scored on a 49-yard kickoff return from Daniel Lindsey, then on a safety to close out the third quarter with a 56-27 lead.
Harrold's 19-yard touchdown from Brown extended the lead to 63-27 early in the fourth quarter. Cedar Rapids scored again, on a 1-yard run from Jake Medlock. Harrold's spectacular night was capped off with his fifth touchdown reception of the night, a 12-yarder from Turner.
Lindsey's kickoff return touchdown was the first time a kickoff has been taken to the house by any Indoor Football League player this season.
The Storm outgained the Titans in total offense, 243 yards to 182, including an advantage of 89 to 26 on the ground. There were just three combined accepted penalties by both teams. The Titans committed the games lone turnover, a fumble which was recovered by Chris Martin of the Storm. Sioux Falls registered the games only two sacks.
Brown was efficient for the Storm, completing 10 of his 14 attempts for 137 yards with 3 touchdowns, while rushing 8 times for 39 yards and a score. Turner's 2 touchdowns to Harrold came on his only two attempts of the game. McCombs had 37 yards on 8 carries along with his 3 touchdowns. McCombs also caught a pair of passes for 24 yards. Harrold's 5 touchdowns came on just 6 receptions, for 81 yards. J'Vontez Blackmon led a balanced defensive attack for Sioux Falls with 7 total tackles. Claude Davis had a sack, while Martin and Trey Wafford each registered a half a sack.
Medlock had a respectable outing for the Titans, hitting 23 of 40 of his pass attempts for 184 yards, 4 touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed for a touchdown. Javon Bell hauled in 8 passes for 56 yards. Wade added 4 receptions and 55 yards to his 3 touchdowns on the night, while Hollenbeck caught 5 balls for 46 yards and a score. Rodney Barnes had 9.5 total tackles and a tackle for loss for Cedar Rapids.
The Storm (1-1) will visit the Iowa Barnstormers (2-0) on March 18 with kickoff slated for 1:05 p.m. pacific (3:05 p.m. central). The Titans (1-2) will host the Nebraska Danger (2-0) on March 19. Kickoff for that one is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. pacific (7:05 p.m. central).
Both games, as well as all IFL games this season, will be streamed live on the IFL's Official YouTube Channel. SCtoC will present previews of those, and all, games this season. Those previews will be posted on the board of the home team in each game.
