GREEN BAY, WI - The Green Bay Blizzard announced they have parted ways with Head Coach Chris Williams.
The Blizzard released the news of Williams' departure Thursday evening on Twitter.
"The Green Bay Blizzard would like to thank Chris for his dedication to the organization for the past 3 years," the team tweeted. "Chris was instrumental in restructuring our football program and we wish him the best."
The team did not announce an interim nor permanent replacement in its announcement.
Williams has been a fixture in the indoor/arena football world, coaching at various indoor football leagues including the National Indoor Football League (NIFL), arenafootball2 (af2), the Intense Football League and the Indoor Football League. His most successful coaching stint was with the West Texas Roughnecks, where he amassed a 74-47 record, 7 playoff appearances, and Intense Bowl Championship.
In 2016, Williams was hired as head coach and director of operations for the Blizzard, but didn't find similar success in Green Bay. In a little over two seasons, the Blizzard went 8-29 and failed to make the playoffs.
The Blizzard, currently in the midst of two consecutive bye weeks, are 0-5 and sit in last place overall in the Indoor Football League standings.
Green Bay has struggled on heavily on offense since 2017, having scored 40+ points only two times in their last 21 games. Offensive production has significantly regressed in 2018, as Green Bay ranks in last place in several categories, including total points (136), points per game (27.2), total offensive yards (771), total offensive yards per game (154.2), total passing yards (261) and passing touchdowns (4).
In spite of the struggles on offense, the Blizzard rank first in rushing with total rushing yards (510) and rushing attempts (153).
Green Bay won't see the field again until April 15th, when they host the Cedar Rapids Titans in a Sunday afternoon game at the Resch Center.
