GREEN BAY, WI - The Green Bay Blizzard have announced that Corey Roberson has been named Interim Head Coach.
Roberson takes the reigns from Head Coach Chris Williams, who was fired on March 29th after an 0-5 start. Williams, who was hired prior to the 2016 Season, was 8-29 in just a little over two years as Head Coach.
Despite the losing record and zero playoff appearances, Blizzard co-owner Kathy Treankler praised the former coach.
"Chris was instrumental in restructuring our football program and in re-defining how we treat and develop these young players," Treankler stated in the team's press release. "Chris made his mark by helping numerous Blizzard players receive workouts with NFL and CFL Teams."
Roberson has been with the Green Bay Blizzard since the 2010 Season. He played as a defensive back in indoor football for nine seasons, playing for Rapid City, Billings, Wyoming, and the Blizzard. Beginning in 2011, he made the switch to coaching as a member of Green Bay's coaching staff, spending time as both the special teams coach and the defensive coordinator throughout his coaching tenure.
The Blizzard are currently in the midst of back-to-back bye weeks. They take the field again on April 15th, when they host the Cedar Rapids Titans in a Sunday afternoon game at the Resch Center.
