During training camp, Storm radio broadcaster Rich Roste submitted the following questionnaire to players of the team (SCtoC also submitted a similar questionnaire its own). Roste calls storm games for KWSN AM 1230/KWSN FM 98.1, as well as the Kurtiss Riggs Show every Monday night at 4 p.m. pacific (6 p.m. central). The players' answers here are their direct responses to the questionnaire. The Storm were kind enough to forward these questionnaires to SCtoC for use in this series. We would like to extend our appreciation to Roste and Storm Director of Media Relations Kayley Shade for allowing us to bring these to you here on SCtoC.
We will feature this series throughout the course of the season.
Kicker Miles Bergner in his second season in the Indoor Football League and his first with the Storm. At 6'0" and 225 lbs., he could probably double (or triple) as a fullback or a linebacker. Bergner began his IFL career last season with the Colorado Crush. He appeared in just four games, but made a major impact. He hit all 10 of his extra point attempts, and nailed 12 of 14 field goal attempts for an 85.7 percentage. That percentage would be solid by National Football League standards. He was named IFL Special Teams Player of the Week in the final two weeks of the season, a 54-52 loss to the Wichita Falls Nighthawks in week 17, and in a 47-44 overtime loss to the Arizona Rattlers in week 18.
With the Storm this season, Bergner has made 46 of his 53 extra point attempts and leads the league in field goal accuracy at 72.2 percent. He has a long of 45 yards (a league high which he has made twice). Two of his misses have come from exactly 50 yards which, in the IFL, most often is a substitute for a punt. He wears number 16 for the Storm. His last name is pronounced "Berg-ner."
