CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - Jake Medlock threw for 249 yards and five touchdowns as the Cedar Rapids Titans held off the Nebraska Danger to earn their second win of the 2018 season tonight at U.,S. Cellular Center.
The Titans, who have already been eliminated from playoff contention, move to 2-10 on the season. The Danger, who are clinging to the fourth and final playoff spot in the Indoor Football league, fell to 4-9.
The Danger can clinch a playoff berth with a win in the season finale against the Arizona Rattlers, or a single loss in the final two weeks by the Green Bay Blizzard.

The Titans got on the board first, courtesy a 43-yard pass from Medlock to Javon Bell. The Danger countered with a two-yard run from Angelo Pease. Cedar Rapids held a slim 7-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The only score of the second quarter came on Medlock's 13-yard strike to Marquel Wade, and the Titans led 14-6 heading into intermission.
Pease pulled the Danger to within 14-12 with his one-yard run with 11:56 to go in the third quarter. The Titans extended their lead to 20-12 four minutes later. Cedar Rapids went up 26-12 with 3:05 remaining in the third quarter when Medlock connected with Bell for a nine-yard touchdown. The Titans led 26-12 at the end of three.
Cedar Rapids extended its lead to 33-12 early in the fourth quarter when Medlock found Wade for a 10-yard touchdown. Despite being down by three touchdowns, Nebraska was not going away. The Danger scored on a trick play; a three yard catch by Gregory Dent, Jr. from fellow wide receiver Kenzel Doe. They narrowed their deficit to 33-26 on a seven-yard run by Gregory Hankerson Jr. Cedar Rapids was then able to run out the clock.
The Titans outgained the Danger in total yards, 269 to 175, including an edge in the passing game, 241 yards to 110. The Danger had an advantage in rusing offense, 65 yards to 28. Nebraska was penalized eight times for 54 yards, while the Titans were flagged four times for 35 yards. The Titans turned the ball over three times and the Danger turned it over just once.
Medlock was in his early season form, completing 22 of 26 passes for 249 yards and 5 touchdowns. Bell had a game-high 84 receiving yards on 5 catches with a pair of touchdowns. Wade hauled in 7 passes for 75 yards and two scores. Lawson-Gayle had 7 catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. Raheem Bramwell paced the Titans' defense with 8.5 total tackles and an interception. James Calhoun also recorded an interception and Ricarlo Bell had a sack.
Hankerson went 13 of 19 for 104 yards, and ran for 22 yards and a touchdown. Please gained 31 yards on 11 carries with 2 touchdowns. Jarred Haggins, getting his first start in place of Eric Thomas, caught 4 passes for 56 yards, while Dent had 5 catches for 35 yards and a score. Nathan Holley's 10.5 total tackles and forced fumble led the Danger defense. Davion Belk had a sack, and Darion Monroe and Rahman Kamara each recovered a fumble.
The Titans will visit the Green Bay Blizzard on June 9 with kickoff set for 5:05 p.m. pacific (7:05 p.m. central). The Danger have a bye in week 16, and will close out the regular season at home against the Arizona Rattlers. Kickoff for that one is set for 5:05 p.m. pacific (7:05 p.m. central).
