Howdy folks, it is me Spiderfan here and with Week 4 of the National Football League season over, it is time for me to give my Random Thoughts and Stuff on things. Lettuce ... I mean Let us begin!
Showtime!
The first thing I should talk about is the absolute greatness of the Los Angles Rams. From about midway through the 2nd quarter until the end of the game they had complete control of the game. While I'm not that hot on the Vikings, a big primetime game like TNF is a big deal and it shows me that when the lights are on, they can absolutely ball out. From the defense, to the running game, to one Jared Goff who put on a clinic with 465 yards, 5 TDs, and no INTs outplaying the $84 million man (Kirk Cousins). After this past week and previous weeks, I feel even more confident as them being the representative of the NFC in Super Bowl 53.
The Mack Attack ends Fitzmagic
After an up and down game against the Steelers, I thought the Buccaneers would bounce back, beat the Bears, and Ryan Fitzpatrick would cement himself as the starter in Tampa Bay. Not only did none of things happen, this game appears to be a devastating loss, as I'm not sure how a team can come back from that.
On the other hand, this appears to be a glorious win for the Bears. After absolutely choking on opening day, almost choking against the Seahawks, and trying their best to lose against the Cardinals, It appears the team has finally hit a good point. Offensively they dominated and while they won't score 48 every week, if the offense can play well and the defense can keep playing good football, this team will make some noise.
Speaking of defense Khalil Mack has continued to dominate week after week after week after week and he didn't even spend any preseason or training camp with the Bears. We are talking 5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and a pick six in 4 games. One of which he didn't even start. I would fully agree with the notion that he should be in the MVP discussion.
Frank Reich's 4th down call
There has been some controversy as to whether or not Colts HC Frank Reich should have gone for it on 4th down in overtime against the Houston Texans. I actually agree with his idea, I think the Colts just called a bad play. If anything they should have gone for it on 4th down during the opening drive of overtime, while they had all sorts of momentum going. As a side note, don't be fooled by this win, the Texans still aren't good.
Surprise teams
But you know which teams are good? The Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, and Baltimore Ravens. All three teams currently have 3 wins and all 3 IMO look to make things mighty interesting in the AFC.
See I told you so
I said that Sam Darnold was overrated and not as good as other people say. I said that Patrick Mahomes is the truth. I have been correct on these subjects now multiple weeks in a row. That isn't new. What is new is that I predicted after the loss to the Lions (which I said is a bizzare loss and not a big deal) the Patriots would beat the previously undefeated Miami Dolphins. Not only did the Patriots win but in true dominating fashion, 38-7. The Patriots now play the Colts on TNF, which is highly likely to be a Patriots win. I'm still confident in them representing the AFC in the Super Bowl. Now I'm not the only person to say the Patriots would be fine, folks such as Albert Breer of The MMQB had the same opinion, but I didn't say the Patriots were done so I'm happy.
That is just GREEEEAAATTT
So, Daddy Ostrich (known to most as Jerry Jones) went on 105.3 The Fan as he does and said the Ostriches were like the Rams
Quote via NFL.com
"The quarterback -- I remember Goff when he first came in, they moved him along at a little slower pace than Dak got to come in -- but I know that we've been just as proud of Dak as those that are Rams fans that are proud of their quarterback. We've done that and had that feeling in the past. So when I see them executing in a way that creates the offense they got, I look at our personnel -- I don't have to reach to basically see that."
Now the idea that was one does not have to reach to compare the Rams and Ostriches is flat out absurd. The Rams offense is one of the best in the NFL, while the Ostriches have one of the worst offenses in the NFL.
Unfortunately, the Ostriches managed to win a game against the dumpster fire that is the Detroit Lions and because they are now 2-2, various people from Daddy Ostrich, to Little Ostrich (also known as Stephen Jones), and Head Coach Ostrich are probably going to put the chests out like Star Bellied Sneeches, because they share the same record as the Eagles and aren't completely terrible. Just GREEEEAAATTT!
Other thoughts
-The Jaguars are apparently inconsistent and that isn't what they need to be if they want to be contenders.
-The Browns are still the Browns, sorry Believeland.
-The Seahawks should have traded Earl Thomas or he should have held out into the season. Now neither side of the feud wins.
-Congrats to Jon Gruden on his first win since leaving the MNF booth!
ROAD TO 0-16
The Arizona Cardinals still only have losses and I'll keep doing this segment until they have something else whether that be a win or tie.
I did not expect the Cardinals to be this bad, but they are. They'll probably win a a game against the 49ers and then pull out a win somewhere else to go 2-14. Number 1 pick yes. 0-16 no. Although, I said the Browns weren't going 0-16 for the longest time, so I could be wrong again.
ROAD TO 16-0
2 teams in the NFL currently only have wins. I will keep doing this segment until they have a loss or tie.
Teams that currently only have wins:
Los Angeles Rams
Kansas City Chiefs
Both of these teams are great. However due to Chiefs HC Andy Reid's history of starting out hot and then cooling off, I'm going to pick the Rams as my team that IMO is most likely to go 16-0.
I know this edition of Random Thoughts & Stuff is late, but I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. This is spiderfan out.
