Salutations everyone it is me spiderfan here, Week 6 of the National Football League season has ended and with it now comes time for my Random Thoughts & Stuff. Let's begin!
The New York Football Tinys have giant problems
You are star Tinys WR Odell Beckham Jr. Your team is the 2nd worst team in the NFL record wise and in some people's eyes (mainly the Official NFL Analyst of SCtoC) the worst team in the NFL. You are insanely talented and are very valuable not only just in dollars as a potential free agent, but also in potential trade. Add in that Tinys co-owner John Mara has beef with you. Instead of trying to get the heck out of dodge, you decide to sign a giant (no pun intended) contract extension worth nearly $100 million.
Now I ask you, why would you go and say the things you said on ESPN?
OBJ, you made the decision to stay on the Tinys complaining about it, after you get your money isn't cool.
What also isn't cool is people throwing Tinys QB Eli Manning under the bus. Is he elite? No. Is his not-great play a problem? Yes. But it is what I said last year, the whole team is bad so putting extra blame on Eli is unfair. I tip my hat to Tinys GM Dave Gettleman for trying to fix this giant mess by adding good players like Saquon Barkley (Who I would still take over Sam Darnold) and Nate Solder, but it is time for a full on giant tear down (puns intended).
The Texans are the worst .500 team in the league
In what was a terrible football game (Their 4th this year, the first 3 being the Tinys, Titans, and Ostrich games) the Texans managed to dig themselves out of their 0-3 hole and are now tied with the Jags and Titans in the AFC South. In previous weeks they won because of poor Colts execution and Coach Ostrich, but this week they won because of Nathan "The Interception Machine" Peterman (click Watch on YouTube to see the clip).
It looked like the Texans might finally get rid of Bill O'Brien and then everything had to go in his favor. I have no idea why the football gods like him, but they do. I still don't and if you don't believe me, watch this from NFL Network Analyst Brian Baldinger:
The Ostriches were more like Emus on Sunday
The Dallas Ostriches beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 40-7. I'm speechless. Apparently this victory was good enough for Papa Ostrich to want to give Coach Ostrich an extension.
My reaction to seeing this tweet:
Being that Jeff Sullivan writes for the official team website, I'll take him at his word on this. Even though Papa Ostrich says not to
I'm sure more will come of this in the coming weeks.
The Stupid Roughing the Paser Rules
In a game worthy of being on Sunday Night Football, both teams played great. Tom Brady continues to defy expectations and Patrick Mahomes continues to be the truth. My big takeaway from this game sadly, is that the Chiefs were ultimately robbed. How so? Because of this play (click Watch on YouTube to see the clip):
Chiefs LB Breeland Speaks has Tom Brady, but due to the rule change where you can't put your "full" body weight on the QB, he let's him go which ultimately led to a Patriots TD instead of a FG or a potential 4th down stop. The Patriots won by 3 points, so when ya do the math it becomes clear that the Chiefs would have won, if it weren't for this rule. Dear NFL, change the roughing the passer rule back to the way it used to be please.
Other thoughts
-Brock Osweiler is apparently the best hunter of Bear in the world as no matter what city he is in (Denver, Houston, or Miami) he always manages to beat them.
-The Chargers aren't terrible and should make things interesting in the AFC West, but won't because something inevitably bad will happen to them as for some reason the football gods don't like them.
-Antonio Brown is the only thing keeping the Steelers from being an awful team.
-Case Keenum isn't that bad. #dealwithit
-If the Redskins were consistent, they would really be something.
-After you are done reading this column, check out this article by CBS Sports Insider Jason La Canfora as he pretty much confirms everything I've been saying about the Raiders.
-My thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of Seahawks owner Paul Allen and may he rest in peace. Here is a great compilation of various tweets of various folks thoughts and condolences as well.
ROAD TO 16-0
The Los Angeles Rams currently do not have a loss or tie and I will keep doing this segment until they have a loss or tie.
With the Chiefs loss on Sunday Night, the LA Rams are the only undefeated team left in football and my word they deserve it. They have the potential to have a perfect season now let's see if they can do it.
And that is all for this week's column, I hope ya enjoyed it, and as always this is spiderfan out.
