Below is are the results of the 2019 National Women's Soccer League. The Draft was held today at the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Chicago, Illinois, The first selection was made just after 9 a.m. (pacific).
Three Stanford players were taken in with the first seven picks, including defender Tierna Davidson who was selected first overall by the Chicago Red Stars. The Washington Spirit, which had four first round selections, took Cardinal midfielder Jordan DiBiasi with the third pick and defender Tegan McGrady with the seventh. UCLA defender/forward Hailie Mace was selected second overall by Sky Blue FC.
The Portland Thorns had just one selection, in which they picked midfielder Emily Ogle of Penn St. with the sixth selection of the third round. The Strongsville, Ohio native racked up several honors in her time with the Nittany Lionsm including Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2014, Big Ten Midfielder of the Year in 2018, and All-Big Ten First Team in 2017 and 2018. She scored six goals and tallied five assists in 2018 with a pair of those goals coming in Penn St.'s 4-1 win over Indiana on October 18. Over her four-year career (she red-shirted in 2016), Ogle scored 20 goals with 21 assists, along with five game winners. Ogle is the only daughter of five children in her family. Her major is Kinesiology.
The NWSL season is set to begin this spring.
