The following is the complete schedule for the 2019 AFL season.
The league's 32nd Season will kick off Friday, April 26th with a rematch of Arena Bowl XXXI, also known as the Leonsis Bowl as the two teams, the Washington Valor and the Baltimore Brigade, are owned by owned by Washington Wizards, Capitals, and Mystics owner Ted Leonsis. In a titanic upset, the 2-10 Washington Valor defeated the 7-5 Baltimore Brigade by the score of 69-55.
For the first time in four seasons, the AFL has not reduced games in the regular season, retaining the 12 game regular season format from 2018. In 2016, the AFL reduced its games from 18 to 16 games due to the reduction of teams. That trend continued in 2017, with the AFL reducing its games from 16 to 14. Prior to 2018, the last time the AFL season consisted of 12 games was in 1995, which featured 13 franchises.
The league has also seen growth and has climbed up to more than 5 teams for the first time since 2016. The league has added Atlantic City and the Columbus Destroyers for the 2019 season. Columbus, named after the original Columbus Destroyers franchise from 2004-2008, will retain the records and history of that franchise.
The 2019 regular season will consist of a six team league and play a 12 game schedule over 13 weeks. Unlike 2018, which featured 2 teams having un-balanced home and away schedule, all six teams will play a fair home and away schedule, with 6 home games and 6 away games each. However, not all teams will visit every venue.
The AFL will also retain its unique playoff format that it introduced last season, however only the top four teams will make the playoffs rather than all the teams like in 2016 and 2018. The playoff format is similar to Major League Soccer, formatted in a two-game Home and Home Playoff Series. The highest seed for each match-up will have the option to pick their home date in the series. If the same team wins both playoff games, they will advance to ArenaBowl XXXII. If the series ends in a 1-1 tie, the team with the highest aggregate score will advance. If the scores are tied at the end of the 2nd game, they will play an overtime quarter to determine which team advances.
Each week's games will appear most recent at the top of the post. Final results will be updated following the conclusion of the games and listed in ascending order. All game times are listed in the Pacific Timezone and are subject to change. Where applicable, click on the final score to view the AFL's game tracker for the complete box score.
CBS Sports Network will not be involved with the Arena Football League this season. All games from Week 2 onward will be available on ESPN3, with ArenaBowl XXXII to be aired on ESPN2.
