John Prather is a 6'1, 195-lb. first-year wide receiver for the Storm. He saw his first action in the Storm's 66-52 win over the Quad City Steamwheelers, catching two passes for 10 yards. He spent time with the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football league in 2018. He was a stellar receiver at Carnegie-Mellon University. In his senior year, Prather caught 63 passes for 1,032 yards with 11 touchdowns. As a junior, he caught a school record 66 passes and 1,125 yards. In all, he appeared in 43 games at Carnegie-Mellon, starting 38 of them. He is originally from Olney, Maryland.
Here are Prather's answers to our questions:
1. What do you consider to be your greatest achievement in football so far?
Breaking every WR record in college (at Carnegie Mellon). Being the first player in (my) college history to play pro football.
2. What were your first impressions of the prospect of playing indoor football?
High scoring and throw the ball a lot; it will be fun.
3. What was it that made you want to come and try out for the team?
Opportunity to play pro football and move up to the next level.
4. Who has inspired you most in your football career and in life?
My father played pro football and made me strive to play.
5. What is your biggest long-term goal for your football career?
Play in the NFL.
6. What would you like to accomplish this season?
Rookie of the Year in the IFL. Leading receiver on the team.
7. What are you looking forward to most about the upcoming season?
To showcase my talents and dominate. To win a championship and move on.
8. Please describe how important your family has been to you during your football journey?
Very important; they have supported me every step and helped me achieve the success I have
9. What is at the heart of your desire to continue your football career?
To be as successful as possible and get a chance to play at the highest level of football.
10. What would you like IFL fans to know about you?
I'm hardworking and talented.
