ARENABOWL HISTORY

This is the first appearance for the Empire. Prior to the Empire, who began play in 2018, there were two previous Albany franchises. The first Albany franchise, the Firebirds, played in the Arena Football League from 1990-2000. The Firebirds would relocate from Albany to Indianapolis, and would go on as the Indiana Firebirds from 2001-2004. The second Albany franchise, the Conquest, played in the AF2 from 2002-2008 and re-branded as the Albany Firebirds in 2009. The original Firebirds made only one ArenaBowl appearance, defeating Orlando in ArenaBowl XIII in 1999. The Conquest/Firebirds franchise never made it to the ArenaCup. Here's a look at how they fared in the past:
ArenaBowl XIII (1999) - Albany Firebirds 59, Orlando Predators 48 - at Pepsi Arena, Albany, NY
