Greetings and salutations, Sports Coast to Coast! I am Spiderfan, your official NFL analyst and it is time for me to bring you my thoughts on the events of Week 4 in the National Football League. There wasn't a whole lot of interesting things to happen this week, but hopefully I can scrounge up some good fixin's for ya. Let us begin!
Running backs are underrated
Whether you find them in the top of the draft or the bottom if you have a great run game, you are put in a better position to win games. A great running game allows you to chew clock, set up the play action pass game, and it opens up the pass game. Oh, and it also consistently gets yards. Now, you are probably asking yourself "Spiderfan we know this we are Stanford fans, do you not know who Christian McCaffrey and Bryce Love are?" Yes, my friends I know this. The reason I am talking about the importance of a great run game is because today I saw guys like Leonard Fournette, Nick Chubb, and Alvin Kamara be the difference in various games today.
Leonard Fournette had over 200 rush yards, Nick Chubb had nearly 200 yards and 3 TDs, and Alvin Kamara chewed clock against the Cowboys. Oh, and the Jaguars, Browns, and Saints all won. Coincidence? I think not.
Offensive lines are overrated
Look, I'm not stupid, I know you need a decent offensive line to function at all in the NFL. HOWEVER, I don't care how many Pro Bowl or All-Pro or All-America or Rotund All Stars you have, a good or great defensive line will still cause problems for your offense.
The Chiefs? They have a good offensive line. Guess what? The Lions still got all kinds of pressure and gave the Chiefs all they could handle. The Vikings? They also have a good offensive line. Guess what? Da Bears defensive line made them look silly with 6 sacks. The Vikings are lucky their defense is as good as it is, because that game should been 30-0 with how dominant that Bears defense was. Finally, the Dallas Cowboys and their supposed elite offensive line which everyone brags about? Yeah, the Saints dominated the Cowboys on the line of scrimmage, completely shutting down what had been up until SNF one of the best offenses in all of football.
So the next time you hear anyone (not me) say "That team will be able to shut down that great D-line with their O-line" be skeptical. I certainly am.

Zone Coverage
-When there are multiple instances where you can't score when you're within the 5 yard line, you aren't gonna win. The Packers are proof positive.
-The Titans are consistently inconsistent.
-The Bills choked.
-Kyle Allen is still good.
-Vontaze Burfict shouldn't be suspended. #hottake
-Jared Goff isn't living up the contract right now.
-The Raiders aren't terrible and I am surprised.
-The Cardinals need to play better than they did Sunday. Game wasn't even competitive.
ROAD TO 0-16
This is the segment I do, celebrating the very worst the NFL has to offer. After week 3 the 0-for teams are:
Denver Broncos
New York Jets
Miami Dolphins
Cincinnati Bengals
Washington Redskins
The Denver Broncos have now last 2 games on last second FGs. That is a bummer, but what truly sets them apart is that they have not recorded a turnover or a sack this season. That is atrocious defense, which is extra atrocious when you consider the alleged strength of the Broncos was their defense and they hired Vic Fangio who led the Bears to be one the top defenses in all of football. Add on to that, that Bradley Chubb (Von Miller's wingman on defense) has torn his ACL and will be out for the rest of the season. They are not going to win a lot of games. However, because they have played close games, I imagine they'll eventually pull one or two out. I'll also say this: If the defense doesn't improve Vic Fangio should be on the hot seat.
The Jets were on their bye, so I'll talk about their AFC East rival Dolphins, who kept the game against the Chargers close... for a half. Because the game against the Cowboys was close for a quarter, and then the aforementioned Chargers game was close for a half, at this rate maybe the Dolphins will squeak out a win in a couple weeks. Or not. The closest game this the Dolphins would play would be against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Now that would be a good game.
Daniel Jones and the New York Football Giants are good. Ya know who aren't good, like at all? The Washington Redskins. Golly, I will own up to the mistake I made picking them to win the NFC East. Fire Jay Gruden and the strength and conditioning coach. And Dwayne Haskins, because you are now a NFL player you cannot go back to Ohio State for your senior year. Good luck, rookie.
CINCINNATI! YOU GOT DESTROYED BY THE STEELERS!? WHAAAAA?!!!! I'm not a Bengals fan, but the fact that Monday Night Football was 27-3 is shameful. I thought the Bengals might actually be kinda okay this year, that looks like a bad prediction right now. After a lot of years of being above average, the bottom has finally dropped out the Ci-Cats. Congrats?
IMO the teams most likely to go 0-16 are the Dolphins, Bengals, and Redskins.
ROAD TO 16-0
This is the segment I do, celebrating the very best the NFL has to offer. After week 3 the undefeated teams are:
New England Patriots
Kansas City Chiefs
San Francisco 49ers
All sorts of undefeated teams got defeated this week. The Bills, Rams, Packers, and Cowboys all lost, so as you can see there are only 3 undefeated teams remaining. The Chiefs and Patriots both pulled out close games and both of them being here is to be expected. The 49ers? Not expected and frankly I don't they'll be on this list much longer.
IMO the team most likely to go 16-0 is whoever wins the Chiefs-Patriots Sunday night game. That will be one for the ages.
Those are my thoughts on the events of Week 4 in the National Football League. I know this week's edition was shorter than usual, but I hope ya still enjoyed it. I'll be back again in Week 5. This is spiderfan out.
