Today see's the start of our AFL (Australian Rules) Season that will run right through until the end of September. The Rugby League (NRL) has been going for a week now and the Rugby Union (Super Rugby) is already several rounds in. You can find streams of the games online and I highly recommend you take a look.

Tonight is the BIGGEST NIGHT in Rugby League in Australia. Forget the Grand Final it's Game 1 of the State of Origin Series for 2014. It's NSW vs QLD and we hate each other!!! For all of you in the US I highly recommend you finding somewhere to stream the game at 8pm AEST tonight (6 hours time). It'll be worth you being awake at 3am for!!! QLD have won an unprecedented 8 Series in a row but this year is the Year NSW hits back! Tune in tonight or catch the highlights online when you wake up. You won't be disappointed.
*Yes I'm aware I actually live in QLD yet go for NSW. But I was born in NSW and lived there up until the last 5 years of my life. Go the Blues!!!

Oh and yeah, my team is in the state quarterfinals. Our game at W.A. is tomorrow! Sorry for the delay. Had a weekend of work functions. My team NSW won Game 1 by 2 points in what was one of the better matches in the history of the 2 teams. Was a tough match. Game 2 is in a couple of weeks time. I'll keep you posted. Fill me in how did you go in the State Quarters?

They rotate where they play these game every year. This year we've got 2 of the 3 games in my current city (Brisbane) BUT the supporters for QLD are so feral I don't think I'd survive a night being a NSW supporter on their turf haha. No I'm serious this rivalry is fierce!!!

But at home it is your turf right? So how do Aussies celebrate these games? At bars? At parties? At bar parties? Lol

But at home it is your turf right? So how do Aussies celebrate these games? At bars? At parties? At bar parties? Lol Well yes I now live in QLD but I grew up in NSW which is why I support them and will never change. After all the Series is called 'State of Origin'. It's celebrated in all those ways. Bars, pubs, house parties. It's not uncommon to see businessmen walking around the city with their teams jersey on instead of their suit jacket. It is definitely a BIG thing for both States. I think I'm off to a pub for Game 2. I feel like I should be out and about to celebrate when NSW go up an unbeatable 2-0 and break the drought of 8 straight series of losing!!!
