NOTE: With the XFL canceling the rest of the 2020 Season due to COVID-19 percautions, this schedule will no longer be updated. We will arrange scores from Weeks 1-5, and leave the rest as an archive with records intact to show how things were heading into Week 9 before the league folded.
Original Post: The following is the full schedule for the XFL's Inaugural 2020 Season.
The XFL is owned and funded by Vince McMahon's Alpha Entertainment. Like the predecessor XFL from 2001, the new XFL follows a similar structure with eight teams owned and operated by the league. Unlike the original XFL from 2001, the league shares the name and trademark, but the new XFL will not rely on professional wrestling inspired figures and entertainment elements.
The league is made up of eight franchises, as stated above, are owned and operated by the league in a single entity business model. The teams include the Dallas Renegades, Houston Roughnecks, Los Angeles Wildcats, New York Guardians, Seattle Dragons, St. Louis BattleHawks, Tampa Bay Vipers, and the (Washington) DC Defenders. DC, New York, St. Louis, and Tampa Bay will make up the East Division, while Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and Seattle will make up the West Division.
Unlike the AAF, 7 of the 8 XFL teams are located in NFL markets with three teams (New York, Seattle, Tampa Bay) playing in NFL stadiums. Two teams (DC, Los Angeles) will play in Major League Soccer venues, one team (Houston) will play in a college football stadium, and two teams (Dallas, St. Louis) will be the primary tenant in their stadiums recently vacated by its previous tenants (Texas Rangers, St. Louis Rams). The only non-NFL market team, St. Louis, will be the first professional football team in the Gateway City since the St. Louis Rams left after the 2015 NFL Season.
The league's inaugural season will span 10 weeks, beginning one week after Super Bowl LIV on February 8th, and ending the weekend of April 11th. Each XFL team will host 5 home games and play 5 road games. The schedule will feature home-and-home series against division rivals, and one game against each team in the other division.
At the end of the season, the top two teams from the East and West Divisions will advance to the playoffs, which will consist of an East and West Division Final. The winners of both divisions will advance to the XFL Championship, with the host venue revealed at a later date to take place on April 26th.
Like the now defunct Alliance of American Football (AAF), the XFL will not have a kicking extra point. The single point after will be replaced by a scrimmage play, which varies in point value depending on how far the scoring team chooses to take the snap from the goal line. A 2 yard attempt would yield 1 point, a 5 yard attempt yields 2 points, and a ten yard attempt yields 3 points. This rule was in the original XFL, adopted during that league's playoffs.
The league has a television contracts with ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 and FOX/FS1/FS2, with 2 games to be played on Saturdays and 2 games to be played on Sundays. The breakdown for number of games aired throughout the regular season is as follows: ABC will air 14 games (10 on Saturday, 4 on Sunday), FOX will air 10 games (7 on Saturday, 1 Sunday, 2 Thursday), FS1 will air 9 games (9 Sunday), ESPN will air 4 games (4 Sunday), ESPN2 will air 2 games (2 Sunday), and FS2 will air 1 game (1 Saturday).
During the payoffs, FOX will air the East Division Final, while ESPN will air the West Division Final and the XFL Championship.
Each week's games will appear most recent at the top of the post. Final results will be updated following the conclusion of the games and listed in ascending order. All game times are listed in the Pacific Timezone (PST) and are subject to change. Where applicable, click on the final score to view the box score.
