The Thorns Allie Long and Alex Morgan are the latest to accept the Ice Bucket Challenge. Morgan was challenged by, among others, Timbers coach Caleb Porter.
It's all part of a new effort to raise awareness and donations for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. The idea is that once someone is nominated, they record and post a video of themselves being drenched with ice water out of a bucket, then challenge three others. If they choose not to do it, they must donate $100 to ALS research. Once challenged, a person has 24 hours to post their own video and challenge three others.
Many people are both doing the challenge and making a donation.
