June 9 -- Thunder wide receiver/kick returner Duane Brooks was awarded the J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week for week 11.
Despite the Thunder's 52-40 loss to the Los Angeles Kiss on Sunday, Brooks returned two kickoffs for touchdowns, and caught five passes for 2 touchdowns. He has 4 kickoff returns for touchdowns in his last two games.
Brooks also was honored by this site following the game with our Thunder Game Ball.
He has 6 kick returns for touchdowns on the season, which is just two shy of the record of 8 set by Hunkie Cooper of the Rattlers in 2002. He is on pace for 11 this season.
He has found himself back in the starting lineup at wide receiver over the past few games as well. Brooks has 33 receptions for 289 yards and 5 touchdowns This season.
The thrid-year player from Stephen F. Austin had 60 receptions for 660 yards and 8 touchdowns last season for the Thunder. He spent 2013 with the San Jose Sabercats.
