ANGI'S TAKES
RATTLERS
While the Rattlers suffered a couple of minor stumbles early in the season, they appear to be ready now to defend their championship (again). Davila is one of the best in the business. He threw for 319 yards and 9 touchdowns in the first game between the teams. His clear and favorite target is Windsor, who caught 14 balls for 141 yards and 6 touchdowns in that game. Reed added 10 catches for 121 yards and 3 scores. Kellem gave the Thunder fits, recovering 2 fumbles and returned an interception 34 yards which led to another Rattlers' score. Brown matched Kellem's team-high of 6 tackles in the game.
THUNDER
Portland is going nowhere fast. The Thunder fell to the KISS in Anaheim last week (the KISS' first win of the season). They mustered just four offensive touchdowns in the loss. Brooks has been fantastic, returning 6 kickoffs for touchdowns this season, including 2 last week. He also caught 2 Touchdown passes last week. Rowley has had his struggles, but went for 296 yards and 6 touchdowns against Arizona back in April. The Thunder could still be missing Jamar Howard, who caught 9 passes for 138 yards and 4 touchdowns against the Rattlers. Osiase registered 7 tackles and Peila had an interception in the first game.
QUOTABLE
Thunder WR/KR Duane Brooks on returning three kickoffs for touchdowns in the past two games:
““I can only attribute these (runbacks) to the guys in front of me. I let my eyes guide my feet, and I take what our blocking gives me. After that, I just try to make guys miss, and get in the end-zone.””
FEATURED TWEETS
EXTRA
Thunder WR/KR Duane Brooks has six kickoffs returned for touchdowns this season, and is just two away from tying the Rattlers' Hernandez James "Hunkie" Cooper's mark of 8 set in 2002. He was named the J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week for his outing last week against the KISS. Brooks is on pace for 11 for the season.
