Ah, well it's tough to compete when you have one team's roster so stacked against the other. They won against AZ back in Spokane, but that's usually the exception more times than not.

It'll be an interesting off season, especially if Spokane sticks with Nelson as QB, go to Smith, or try and get somebody in free agency.

He can zip the ball with some speed, but he also overthrows his receivers. They have Warren Smith, who struggled, but the guy's a rookie. Who knows if they stick with him or go elsewhere. Who knows what they're going to do, let alone who might be available in free agency. I do believe Coffman won't return. As for the IFL? Who knows. I haven't watched the league, so I don't know the talent pool. I just know a few former af2/AFL franchises are playing in that league.

From what I remember of the Iowa Barnstormers dropping to the IFL, all players are employed by the Arena Football League, so if the Shock were to drop down, the players would be automatically free agents. However, if some players would prefer to stay in Spokane, they can choose to stay.

Why Coach Guy refuses to just run out the game clock is really really strange. It creates very much earned ill will towards him from other teams and their fans. Mostly it just puts his own players at risk getting hurt when the game is all but over, and when you piss off your opponent like he does you open your own players up to retaliation and needless skirmishes from trying to run up the score. Dumb.

Dumb. It's because he has an ego. He thinks he's smarter than everyone, and the problem is (outside of San Jose), there isn't many teams that can provide karma. That ego is why I don't like him.

Yeah, it's really weird how he refuses to run out the clock. Just dumb for his own players and yep like I said, gives him well earned disliking towards him.

Nor are there many teams who pay their players the "wages" that Arizona does.

Well, it was certainly one heck of an up and down season for the Shock.
Here's hoping they stick around in the AFL for another year... and that Butera will finally take charge and handle the cheating part of things.

You are right, David, the AFL is getting the SJ/Arizona matchup they want. I am also convinced they wanted Soul/Sharks as well.
