Updated Feb. 12: Feb. 12, 2016 -- CJ McCollum has been named as an injury replacement to All-Star weekend's Three-Point Contest, it was announced today.
The third-year Blazers guard will replace the injured Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat.
Last week it was reported that McCollum had been selected as a contestant in the Skills Challenge.
Both events among several events scheduled for All-Star Saturday, February 13, beginning at 5:30 (Pacific) and will be broadcast on TNT.
Other participants in the Skills Competition are Patrick Beverley of the Rockets, Isaiah Thomas of the Celtics, Jordan Clarkson of the Lakers, DeMarcus Cousins of the Kings, Anthony Davis of the Pelicans, Draymond Green of the Warriors and Karl-Anthony Towns of the Timberwolves.
McCollum, who has played in and started in all but one of the Blazers 50 games this season, is having a breakout year. He is in the top 15 in the league in scoring at 20.9 points per game. He also is averaging 4.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.
The third-year guard from Lehigh serves as the starting shooting guard, as well as the backup to point guard Damian Lillard.
Lillard is a two-time winner of the Skills Challenge, winning in 2013 and 2014. He did not participate in the Challenge last year.
This forum will have more on All-Star Weekend as events transpire..

This is great news. It shows that people around the league are noticing the rise of CJ McCollum. I would have guessed he would have been in the three point contest. I'm glad CJ is getting this chance.

he's one of the up and comers. this makes sense, though like Jessica, i would have thought he would be a better fit for the 3-point contest.
