January 26, 2017 --This is not a decision I have made lightly. This is something which has nagged at me for the better part of a year.
Things are not quite the same for me. My priorities have changed. I once loved doing something of which I have no further seething desire. I am more than satisfied with my high school career. My team went to the championship when I was a junior, and we went to the won the championship when I was a senior as team captain. I have had success.
That was the pinnacle of my athletic career.
Tearing my ACL over a year ago has little to do with this. I healed well, but my intentions changed. I cannot fully commit to my would-be team. I feel bad because I've met these girls and they are incredible. They are sweethearts but, without my intent and motivation, they are better off.
When all accumulation occurs, only one choice is clear. I hate it. I love it. I honor it. I let my opinions and hope shine. My oldest sister claims that my heart grows on my jersey sleeves. I am passionate and intelligent.
I feel not that I have let anyone down. I feel that I have represented my teammates, myself, my family and my friends honorably. You all deserve that.
With everything I have mentioned, I now hereby announce my retirement from competitive softball.
I will always be the DiamondThief, but it is time to look toward the future; not the past. Thank you to everyone who has cheered. You have meant everything to me.

I know this could not have been easy for you. There is nothing more I loved those afternoons when I would go out and watch you play. I could see how much you loved all of it. From the minute you started playing, I remember seeing your passion. Those teams in high school were your teams. You made them great. I know you'll say it is a team effort, but those teams followed your lead as a captain and as a leader.
I am always proud of my kid sister. I will still always be proud knowing you gave it everything, but have now walked away on your own terms. I respect that.
