GRAND ISLAND, NE - The Colorado Crush fell into a 21-0 hole int eh first quarter, and were never able to recover as they fell to the Nebreska Danger, 55-23.
The Danger struck twice within the first six minutes of the game on a pair of touchdown runs from running back Rob Brown (four yards and five yards), and added to their tally on a 19-yard pass from quarterback Patrick McCain to wide receiver Dello Davis.
The Crush finally got on the board with 6:10 left in the second quarter on Tim Lukas' eight-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Liam Nadler. The teams traded field goals in the rest of the second quarter, and the Danger led 24-10 at the half.
Colorado pulled to within 24-17 three minutes into the third quarter when wide receiver Kyle Kaiser caught a 19-yard touchdown from Nadler.
Nebraska would go on to outscore the Crush 31-7 for the rest of the game, including the games final three touchdowns. Marquaveus Jackson's fumble recovery in the end zone with 34 seconds left capped the Danger's scoring for the night.
Nadler, signed earlier in the week by the Crush, came in early in the second quarter in relief for the ineffective Aaron Aiken. Colorado's first-string quarterback, Sean Goldrich, re-injured his shoulder in last week's loss to the Spokane Empire and was put on short-term injured reserve by the team.
The Danger had 20 first downs to the Crush's 11 and doubled the Crush's total offense, 224 yards to 121. The Crush turned the ball over three times (two interceptions and a fumble), while the Danger had one (fumble).
McCain, filling in for Derrick Bernard for an undisclosed reason, completed 14 of 24 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns. He rushed seven times for 35 yards and a score. Rob Brown had nine rushes for 39 yards and two scores, as well as six receptions for 32 yards. Dimitri Stimphil registered a pair of catches for 50 yards and a touchdown, while Davis had four catches for 49 yards and a trip to the end zone. Demetruce McNeal had both of the Danger's interceptions. Nikolas Sierra led Nebraska in tackles with 11 and Eze Obiora recorded a 2.5 sacks.
Nadler went 13 of 20 for 121 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Aiken was four of 10 for 28 yards. Kaiser led the Crush in receiving with 4 grabs for 51 yards and a score, while Tim Lukas had five catches for 32 yards and a touchdown. The Crush (0-5) visit the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles (1-3) on March 31 at 6 p.m. (PT). The Danger (3-2) are back in action on April 1 as they visit the Spokane Empire (4-1) for a 7 p.m. (PT) kickoff.
