I'm not sure. I know a lot of IFL teams have jumped to the CIF for lower costs. One thing to keep in mind. The IFL is happy with its regional map. Remember, Jacksonville wanted to join the IFL but where they're located, they were out of the IFL's Geographic Footprint. If the NAL magically decided to merge with the IFL, then it could work... but I don't see that happening. Fascinating. How far would the IFL theoretically go? I know the AFL doesn't want to go anywhere past St. Louis. Not sure. But here's the IFL geographic map over the last two seasons to get an idea of how far east they are.

From what Kasey told me, they had the paperwork but it wasn't signed. Why wasn't it signed? I don't know the reason. Kasey might know, it was her source.

That's assuming they even wanted to continue running the team. I know from reading on ArenaFan that they would have had to find a new home in Stockton or somewhere else nearby. Not sure why they would but that's what I was aware of. I know the Fry family claim they weren't happy with being bumped by the circus that made them play the Arena Bowl in Stockton. Now the Fry family claims they wanted out based on how 2015 ended with Spokane leaving and the folding of New Orleans and Las Vegas. The AFL disputes that and says it's unrelated. And of course there's other theories like that San Jose went all in paying under the table to win a championship. They woulda faced a Pittsburgh Power like fine but decided to quit while they were ahead. Is that true? I dunno. I find that more likely though. So since the Fry family quit, the AFL hangs on to the team. They wanted to find owners to bring the team back but considering the map and the fact Arizona is in the IFL, it seems doubtful they'll return unless the AFL comes back to the west. Pretty much the IFL wasn't going to happen with San Jose.

I'm actually for an IFL-NAL merger, as I think that would overall be great for the overall sport of indoor football.

Possibly three down. I haven't heard good things coming out of Cedar Rapids. You can tell they're cutting costs since the team wore practice squad jerseys early in the season and then have gone with cheap looking blue jerseys for both home and road. Regarding expansion rumors.... There's a Twitter account that's lobbying the IFL or the CIF for membership called the Idaho Horsemen, based out of Nampa, Idaho (30 min or so West of Boise). Indoor Football Forum's laughing it off as a "yeah right" but it's got some high profile (at least IFL wise) people following it. So maybe something materializes? Portland's still rumored. They came close last year to signing the paperwork of joining. That could still be in play. Based on who I've also talked to, there's hope that Tri-Cities could return in 2018 since they're currently dormant and with "good standing" in the IFL. As to whether or not it'd be the Fever or if somebody would buy the assets and move the team elsewhere (for example, when Terry Emmert bought the Milwaukee Mustangs assets and created the Thunder), we don't know. Interesting. I'd like to see Portland come into the IFL after what happened with the AFL. A Tri-Cities return would also be interesting as well. One thing I wonder about is OKC, because that is where the Screaming Eagles almost were. Wasn't there rumors about Bismarck, ND last year? How many teams do the staff of SCtoC think will be in the IFL next year? My hunch is that there is one expansion team out there. I am not convinced that both the Screaming Eagles and the Crush will be gone. I think someone buys one of them. However, I think it only will be one of them. The Crush had some other interest when FANchise bought them. Commissioner Allshouse told Bannock earlier in the season that he is working on expansion year-round. I think one or two teams will leave the league, but given the numbers, and to answer your question, I project approximately nine teams in the IFL next season. No facts; just a hunch.

I don't know the reason. Kasey might know, it was her source. From what I understand, she was told that they were close. What she told me was that she felt that if it was going to happen, it would not be for this season. This was all happening about a year ago. But David is correct. Kasey would be the one to ask. From October 16, 2016 Portland franchise could be poised to join IFL
