So the first game of the NAL playoffs has been played with the Columbus Lions beating the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks 52-50. The Lions came back from a 22 point deficit starting late in the 3rd quarter. The 1st half was not that high scoring but things really started to kick in the second half. It was back and forth and certainly entertaining to watch. You can watch it here (click the link because the NAL wants you to watch games on YT itself):
Tomorrow the Jacksonville Sharks play the Monterrey Steel in the second playoff game to decide who will meet the Columbus Lions in the NAL Championship Game. The Sharks will be looking to get revenge on the Steel, who recently ended the Sharks previously undefeated season. That should be a good game as well, but I think the Sharks will ultimately win and go against the Lions in the Championship game. This thread will updated with the results.

The second game of the NAL playoffs has just ended with the Jacksonville Sharks coming out on top 43-32 against the Monterrey Steel. The Sharks had a dominant defense performance and were aided by the return of former Sharks star Joe Hills, who accounted for 3 TDs. The Steel played the Sharks competitively and had a few scoring opportunities that they did not capitalize on. Even so, the Sharks were too good on both sides of the ball and won.
Now in 2 weeks the Columbus Lions will go up against the Jacksonville Sharks in the NAL Championship Game like I predicted. The game will be hosted in Jacksonville and live streamed on YT. I would say the Sharks will win, but I would not be surprised by a Columbus upset. Also worth mentioning the NAL playoffs were better than the IFL playoffs. I hope both championship games are great.

I like that the league is streaming their games on YouTube. It is a really good move and much better than just broadcasting them on local or regional TV.
Do you know exactly when the game will take place? Hopefully it is not at the same time as the United Bowl, which I anticipate to be pretty competitive.

EXTRA! EXTRA! Read all about it! According to both Beyond the Walls and Inside the Arena right before or during halftime of the NAL championship game, some form of expansion will be announced. This makes me wonder 2 things: 1.) Who will be announced? 2.) When will the IFL announce their expansion for next year? I will be sure to post more info whenever I find out about it.

BREAKING NEWS! Minutes after my last post NAL insider on FB posted this: I would think this is the expansion that will be officially announced at the Championship game and if so it sounds interesting.

I know the AFL announces its expansion near to the Arena Bowl. I think the IFL may have some news in the next couple of weeks.

And since been deleted.... Ah man! Guess I should have screen captured it, but I didn't think something like this would be deleted. Now that I think about it, embedding the post was better because that makes me think the info in the post was false. You could also say that maybe the NAL had them take it down, but both scenarios are speculation at this point.

I'm not 100% sold on the NAL quite yet. I glance every now and then to see what the standings are, but I can't say as I've committed to watching.
IFL, CFL, AFL have higher priority in my eyes. But that's just me.

But that's just me. I've watched the playoff, but that is it. I think I'll get more into it next year. Regardless, the Championship game will be worth watching. It is on at 7:30 EST which should be 4:30 PST. If ya don't catch it, it will be archived.

The Championship Game of the National Arena League has just ended with the Jacksonville Sharks defeating the Columbus Lions 27-21. After an opening drive score by the Sharks, there was only one more TD and the Sharks took a 13-0 Halftime lead despite a number of turnovers because of a high amount of Lions penalties. Then coming out of half the Lions offense started cooking and made the game closer. In the 3rd quarter Sharks starting QB Damien Flemming was injured, so former AFL QB Jason Boltus stepped in. Boltus played well for most of the 2nd half until late in the 4th when he threw an endzone interception with a few minutes to go in the game. The Lions down by 6 drove down the field in scoring position to potentially win the game. The Lions managed to take the Sharks remaining timeouts and they chewed the clock down to 11 seconds, at which point Lions QB Mason Espinosa fumbled the ball in a Miracle at the Meadowlands style and the Sharks won. It was a low scoring game that the Columbus Lions should have won despite the setbacks they put themselves in. It was certainly a good game and I was on the edge of my seat in the final minutes. I would say it was a better and more fulfilling championship game than the United Bowl was. Like the Arizona Rattlers in the IFL, I don't think the Jacksonville Sharks will repeat. I look forward to the next NAL season as it sounds like expansion will be rapid. Should be good.
