I don't know what to call this other than Random Thoughts & Stuff. If you have any suggestions feel free to leave them down below. Anyways, welcome! Here are my takeaways from Sunday's action:
The Texans played terrible
10 sacks? Against the Jaguars? Deandre Hopkins had all kinds of drops? Tom Savage was actually benched? Deshaun Watson played mediocre? The Texans defense got torn to shreds by Bortles and Fournette? I am in utter disbelief at what happened. That may be the worse Texans performance I've ever seen. The Texans have a short week to recover and hopefully can rebound against the somehow worse Bengals on TNF. O'Brien still has not decided on a starter for Thursday, this is because of an ankle injury that Watson suffered. I'm curious to see who plays.
The Cowboys played fantastic
Admittedly, I thought the Cowboys wouldn't play as good as they did. The defense played amazing and totally shut down a Giants offense, that was expected to be high powered coming in to the season. The offense played great as well, though Dak did miss some throws that could have made the game have a wider margin. If the Cowboys continue to play like this, they will be widely considered contenders.
About the Giants...
The Giants defense played good but ended up getting tired after a while. Being that the Cowboys defense shut down the Giants offense (as previously discussed) this means one of two things:
1.) The Cowboys defense is an underrated unit.
or
2.) The Giants offense is really bad.
You decide.
The Browns played well
Even though they lost (mainly because AB did an insane catch late in the 4th) that Browns team looked good. Kizer played pretty well (20 of 30 for 220 YDs, 1 TD passing and rushing, and 1 INT) and the defense was able to keep the Steelers at bay with only 14 offensive points without Myles Garrett. This is a game to build on for sure.
The Colts played uh... REALLY bad.
46-9. I think it speaks for itself. It also sounds like Luck isn't coming back anytime soon, which (hot take incoming) leads me to believe that the Colts are soft tanking. They are going to lose a bunch of games while Luck is out, maybe Pagano gets fired, and then Luck comes in late in the season and wins a few games keeping the Colts from a really high pick. What I'm curious to see is if the Colts actually play Luck this season. If they start 0-4 or 0-5 you think they are going to play their franchise QB? Time will tell.
Other random notes:
-49ers stink, though that doesn't surprise me.
-Andy Dalton plays completely awful. Does AJ come in? I doubt it.
-Beast Mode is back and I'm feeling good about both of my SB picks
-Aaron Rodgers is still awesome and it is aggravating to watch
-Matt Stafford is awesome too
-Carson Palmer and Big Ben are on their way out, and I'm sad to say that.
-The Saints and Chargers win in the MNF doubleheader. I'm calling it now.
-If you haven't already here is my thoughts on the Chiefs beating the Patriots:
And now for the
ROAD TO 0-16
16 teams have started the season without a win. I will do this segment until every team has a win.
Teams that lost this week:
NY Jets
San Francisco 49ers
NY Giants
Cleveland Browns
New England Patriots
Arizona Cardinals
Washington Redskins
Indianapolis Colts
Houston Texans
Tennessee Titans
Seattle Seahawks
Chicago Bears
Cincinnati Bengals
(The Dolphins and Bucs are on bye this week due to Hurricane Irma)
Teams like the Seahawks and Patriots are sure to be back on track in the coming weeks. Teams IMO most likely to go 0-16 are the Jets, 49ers, and Colts.
Now for the reverse of the Road to 0-16:
The Road to 16-0
16 teams have started the season without a loss. I will do this segment until every team has a loss.
Teams that won this week:
Dallas Cowboys
Las Vegas err.. I mean Oakland Raiders
Los Angeles Rams
Kansas City Chiefs
Green Bay Packers
Buffalo Bills
Philadelphia Eagles
Pittsburgh Steelers
Carolina Panthers
Atlanta Falcons
Jacksonville Jaguars
Baltimore Ravens
Detroit Lions
The Bills and Jags are sure to lose soon. Teams most likely to 16-0 IMO Cowboys, Raiders, and Packers.
That does it for this week. I'll add the MNF results after those games. I hope you enjoyed this post and I look forward to making more! This is spiderfan out.
