As the new month begins, IFL teams are busy signing players that they believe will enable the to win the United Bowl in 2018. The Arizona Rattlers signed last seasons offensive rookie of the year Verlon Reed to upgrade their offense. This week they added his teamate James Calhoun to upgrade their defense. Calhoun was first team all IFL in 2017 setting records for interception yards and interceptions returned for touchdowns. Calhoun earned player of the week honors for his signal handily turning a Screaming Eagles game around with his interception returns for touchdowns against the Cedar Rapids Titans. Calhoun is a leader. He figures to be a big help to his defensive coaches, simply because he is like a coach on the field. He should inspire his new teammates and bring about a major improvement in the defense. Coach Guy and his personal assistant are moving in a direction that will put them in a solid position to defend the title. The competition will be improved and the victories may not be as many as last season, however Arizona has proven it's commitment to building a winning program that should last.
