We are officially at that time, so it is time for me to give my thoughts on Week 9. Let us begin!
How bout them Cowboys?!
I did not think the Cowboys were going to win today. The Chiefs IMO are the best team in the NFL and the Cowboys are not. Not only that but Zeke's suspension was not delayed until Friday which meant it wasn't clear whether he would or wouldn't play. However, the Cowboys took it to the Chiefs, pulled off the upset, and look like the team I said would represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. They'll have to go up against the Eagles in 2 weeks and that will be a big test to see if the Cowboys are truly contenders.
What the heck Raiders?
So apparently the Raiders show up in do or die games, but don't show up any other time. This means is that they are likely to 7-9 and be a disappointment to everyone. I wish I had picked KC in the preseason.
Cool your jets (notice the j isn't capitalized, meaning I'm not talking about the Jets)
I understand the Redskins took advantage of the fact that Seattle decided that they didn't have to play the first 3 quarters. The Redskins have in theory saved their late season ticket prices from plummeting, however they aren't that good and Cousins will still leave in the offseason.
I also understand that people are waiting for the downfall of Cam Newton. That is not happening anytime soon folks so stop with the "Cam is done" talk please. I'm getting sick of it.
Adrian Peterson's Cardinals
AP had over 35 carries and rushed for over 150 yards and he is 32. He had more carries today than he had in his entire tenure in New Orleans. The Cardinals are now 4-4 and are competitive for a playoff spot. I'm curious to see what happens.
Introducing the New York Football Tinys
From now on the NFC New York team shall be referred to as the Tinys. The coaching staff and players are bad. They have officially shrunk from a playoff caliber-SB contending team to a team that may end up with the number 1 pick and Baker Mayfield. The Tinys should have done Eli a favor and traded him to the Jaguars at the deadline as to avoid the upcoming awkward situation of being benched not because he is bad but so that management can decide whether they want to keep Davis Webb or pick Baker Mayfield. Whoever the new front office and coaching staff end up being, they should enjoy rebuilding a team in a market that isn't used to rebuilds.
Denver Broncos the NFL's Lolcow
For as bad as the Browns, 49ers, and Tinys are the Broncos are truly hilarious and have gone from SB 50 champion to a lowcow.
A lolcow is a person you get extensive laughs from, who doesn't know they are being made fun of. They often think they are admired for what they are doing, but secretly are laughed at constantly. -Urban Dictionary
The Broncos bench Trevor Siemian for get this Brock Osweiler
who is on the roster because Elway thought that Kyle Slotter (who was having a really good preseason) was somehow inferior to the guy who became the first salary cap dump in NFL history.
I could not help but mock the Broncos for their failures today both offensively and defensively. Not only that but the Broncos (to paraphrase) said "Brock gives us a better chance to win... even if that doesn't show up on the scoreboard". Guess what Broncos you aren't going to win many if any games for the remainder of the season, but you will be winners at life. That is after all what matters. Just ask Butch Jones.
Other thoughts:
-The Jets aren't the worst team in the league like they were expected to be and I'm happy for that fanbase and those players.
-The Jaguars won with Bortles throwing the football? What?
-The Saints are actually pretty good. Didn't see that coming.
-The Buccaneers have officially entered yucky status. Dirk Koetter will be looking at OC jobs in January.
-The Titans and Jags are in the race for the AFC South title. No one else is.
-The Eagles aren't the best team in the NFC. The Rams are.
-The Texans may not win another game this year and I'm all for it. I embrace the tank!
-The Lions win MNF. Calling it.
THE ROAD TO 0-16
2 teams currently don't have a win. I will do this segment until every team has a win.
Teams that currently don't have a win:
Cleveland Browns
San Francisco 49ers
The Browns were on bye this week, so the 49ers got the honor of being 0-9 the worst start in franchise history. I feel bad for CJ Beathard as that offensive line are the Garbage Pail Kids. Jimmy G will win them a game or two though so the Browns IMO are the team most likely to 0-16, though I don't feel confident in that.
Thank you for reading and I will see you again for my midseason awards! This is spiderfan out.
