This edition of my Week 11 thoughts and stuff is late, hopefully you think it is great! Let's begin!
This week in the NFL was like a week in College Football
I say this because when I thought about it, this week had everything that happens in college ball. The uncanny upset (Chiefs-Tinys), the shootout (Redskins-Saints), the game that ends with one team having no points (Ravens-Packers), the game between bad teams (Bengals-Broncos), the game people think might be an upset but isn't (Browns-Jags), and the disappointing primetime game (Eagles-Cowboys). The NFL is really becoming more like the college game every week, even though NFL coaches and execs don't want it to.
Sean McDermott is stupid
In what can be described as a brilliant decision (110% sarcasm intended) Sean McDermott benched Pro Bowl QB Tyrod Taylor for rookie Nathan Peterman because... I don't know. What I do know is that McDermott topped both Hue Jackson and Bill O'Brien with the stupidest coaching decision of the year because Nathan Peterman threw 5 INTERCEPTIONS in the first half. Let me repeat that, 5 INTERCEPTIONS in one half. I did not even think that was possible. What is worse is that it sounds like the Bills may actually stay with Peterman instead of going back to Taylor. Any chance of making the playoffs will go away with that decision. The Flutie Curse lives.
About the Texans
I embraced the tank, primarily because I wanted the Texans to get rid of Bill O'Brien. However they are still in playoff position even at 4-6, and with a key game against the Ravens coming up I no longer embrace the tank. Go Texans!
The Texans aren't the only under .500 team in the playoff hunt
With my mentioning of the Texans above, it is important to know that they aren't the only 4-6 team still very much alive in the playoff hunt. The Jets, Dolphins, Bengals, Chargers, and Raiders are all still alive and things should heat up now that we are coming toward the end of the season. It is worth mentioning that the Packers were 4-6 last year, won out, and ultimately made the NFC Championship Game. Of the teams remaining I would say the Dolphins have the best chance to make it.
The Lolcows of Denver are "soft"
A defense that I always thought was overrated, got torched by the worst offense in the league and got called "soft" by Mr. Lolcow himself John Elway. Mike McCoy also got fired as the OC of the Lolcows because apparently Brock's suckage is his fault. Yeah right.
Not only that, but now Paxton Lynch will be the starting QB of the Lolcows. This is funny because Lynch was drafted to be Mr. Lolcow's replacement for the departed Brock Osweiler. Now Lynch after playing bad in multiple training camps and preseasons is finally replacing Brock years after the fact. Truly hilarious.
Mr. Lolcow himself happens to be truly hilarious himself, because in his complaint about the team being soft he forgot something... he built the team. His questionable decisions have finally come back to bite him and the SB 50 champs have sunken to Lolcows. Enjoy your rebuild Broncos fans!
Crack in Dak's armor
I have been a fan of Dak Prescott since he was drafted by the Cowboys. I thought he should have been co-OROY with Ezekiel Elliot. Right now he isn't playing like last year and I think it is a confidence problem caused by bad coaching. Jason Garrett should tell him "Everything is going to be okay without Zeke". Instead Dak seems to be failing under the non-existent pressure and I feel bad for him. Hopefully he starts playing better.
The Seahawks blow it
The Falcons choked and yet still won. This is because before the end of the first half Pete Caroll called a bizarre fake FG which prevented a kick which would have tied the game. The Seahawks lost and are now out of the 6th seed in the playoff picture. Fight on Seahawks!
Other thoughts:
-Case Keenum is really good. The Vikings are right to stay with him.
-The Eagles are really good, but I want to see them beat the Saints or Vikings before I call them the best team in the NFC.
-The Patriots are the best team in the AFC and the Vikings are the best team in the NFC.
-The Steelers are still overrated.
-The Chiefs are becoming the 2015 Falcons and 2016 Vikings. A team that starts undefeated and keeps losing.
THE ROAD TO 0-16
Team that currently doen't have a win. I will do this segment until every team has a win.
Team that currently doesn't have a win:
Cleveland Browns
I still say the Browns won't go 0-16 and that the Moneyball system will work in football. Hue Jackson needs to be fired though.
Week 11 is done and Week 12 should be just as fun. Hope you enjoyed and with that said, this is spiderfan out.
