SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Storm took a 23-7 second-quarter lead and held off a late rally by the Nebraska Danger to earn their seventh win of the season tonight at Denny Sanford Premiere Center.
The 40-36 win improved the Storm's record to 7-3. The Danger, still in the playoff race, fell to 4-6.

The Storm struck first on a two-yard run from Damien Ford, before Angelo Pease gave the Danger a 7-6 lead with 7:07 left in the first quarter. Lorenzo Brown completed two touchdown passes later in the quarter, 24 yards to Judd Harrold and 14 yards to Ford to give the Storm a 20-7 lead at the end of the first.
The only scoring in the second quarter came on a pair of field goals from Miles Bergner of the Storm. The first was of 34 yards at the 2:42 mark, and the second of 23 yards as time expired in the half. The Storm led 26-7 at halftime.
The Danger pulled to within 26-14 at the 5:12 mark of the third quarter on Gregory Hankerson's 25-yard pass to Gregory Dent, Jr. The Storm extended their lead back to to 12 points when Lyle McCombs ran it in from four yards out.
Nebraska moved back to within five points with Pease's nine-yard run early in the fourth quarter. Sioux Falls went up 40-28 with just over two minutes left when Mike Tatum ran it in on a sweep from a yard out. Pease ran it in from five yards with five seconds remaining. Defensive back Darion Monroe run in the two-point conversion, which accounted for the final margin of 40-36.
The Storm held the advantage in total offense, 263 yards to 183, with edges of 156 yards to 106 in the passing game and 107 yards to 77. The Danger were penalized 8 times for 68 yards, while the Storm were flagged 7 times for 67 yards.
Brown completed 15 of his 21 attempts for 156 yards for 3 touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed 12 times for 50 yards. Lyle McCombs had 13 rushes for 39 yards and a touchdown. Mike Tatum, who rushed for a score, caught 5 passes for 68 yards. Judd Harrold hauled in 3 passes for 50 yards and a touchdown, while Damien Ford caught 6 passes for 28 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The scores were Ford's first two touchdowns in the IFL. Lorenzo White, Jr. and Dezmin Reed each had 5.5 total tackles to pace the Storm defense, while White forced a fumble and had an interception. Jabari Gorman had a game-high 4 pass break ups.
Hankerson, who was signed by the Danger earlier in the week, went 17 of 29 for 106 yards with 4 touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed 10 times for 65 yards. Pease accounted for three touchdowns; one on the ground and two through the air. Thomas had 8 catches for 46 yards and a touchdown, and Dent caught 5 passes for 40 yards and a score. Monroe's 9.5 total tackles were a game high. Nakevion Leslie recorded an interception.
The Danger will host the Green Bay Blizzard on May 18 with kickoff set for 5:05 p.m. pacific (7:05 p.m. central). The Storm are next in action on May 18 when they visit the Cedar Rapids Titans. Kickoff in that one is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. pacific (7:05 p.m. central).
