This is the 2018-19 regular season schedule for the Portland Winterhawks.
The Portland Winterhawks play in the U.S. Division of the WHL's Western Conference. The U.S. Division features the 5 teams from the United States and consists of the Everett Silvertips, Seattle Thunderbirds, Spokane Chiefs, and Tri-City Americans. The Winterhawks split playing their home games between Veterans Memorial Coliseum and the Moda Center at the Rose Quarter.
The 2018-19 Season is the first season in which the WHL will adopt a 68-game season schedule, a 4 game reduction from the 72-game schedule the league has had since the 1975-76 Season. As a result, the Winterhawks (as well as the other 21 WHL clubs) will play 34 home and 34 away games, down from 36 home and 36 away. With the new game schedule, the schedule balances out to an average of 10-12 games from October to February, and at least 5 home games in each month.
The Winterhawks look to get back to the playoffs after being eliminated by the Everett Silvertips in last year's Western Conference Semi-Final, losing 4 games to 1. Portland begins the season on the road taking on the their I-5 rivals, the Seattle Thunderbirds, at the accesso ShoWare Center on Saturday, September 22nd.
Fan favorite games will make their return this season, such as the annual Les Schwab Teddy Bear Toss Game will take place Saturday, December 1st, against the Spokane Chiefs. The annual New Year's Even game will take place Monday, December 31st against Seattle.
