Welcome to SCtoC's week 13 coverage of the 2018 College Football Season.
Every game of a team which we cover here will be followed up with a final score and stat summary when it becomes available. This will serve as the preview and game thread for the entire week's games.
We've also provided links to the official twitter accounts of each team in each match up. Often those accounts will have additional updates leading up to, during and after the games.
All times are pacific time. Times and broadcast information could be subject to change.
OREGON DUCKS at OREGON ST. BEAVERS
What: The Civil War resumes as the 2018 edition features the Ducks visiting the Beavers.
When: Friday, November 23 at 1 p.m.
Where: Reser Stadium; Corvallis, Oregon.
Television: Fox Sports 1.
Radio Stream: 750 The Game.
2018 Records: Ducks 7-4 (4-4 Pac-12 North); Beavers 2-9 (1-7 Pac-12 North)
Head Coaches (overall as HC): Ducks - Mario Cristobal (33-52); Beavers - Jonathan Smith (2-9).
2017: The Ducks defeated the Beavers, 69-10, at Eugene.
Ducks Notes: The Ducks have won nine of the last 10 Civil Wars, including last season's blowout. The Ducks' longest winning streak in the series is 12 games, from 1975 to 1987; though the exception is a 0-0 tie in 1983. With a win, the Ducks can finish their regular season at 8-4 overall, which could improve their bowl standing. They escaped a late fourth quarter rally to down Arizona St. last week, 31-29. Justin Herbert went 19 of 34 for 262 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Travis Dye hit the 100-yard mark for the first time in his college career, amassing 105 yards on 18 carries. Dillon Mitchell caught four passes for 103 yards and a touchdown in the win. C.J. Verdell added 110 all-purpose yards and scored once each on the ground and through the air for the Ducks.
Beavers Notes: The first Civil War game was played in 1894, with Oregon Agricultural (now Oregon St.), claiming the 16-0 win. The Beavers' longest winning streak in the series is eight straight from 1964 to 1971. The Beavers may be better than their 9-3 mark would indicate. The are clearly in the building stages under first-year coach and former OSU quarterback Jonathan Smith. If not for a 28-point first quarter explosion by Washington, the Beavers may have had a chance for the upset last week. Jake Luton completed 18 of 32 pases for 190 yards and a touchdown in the 42-23 loss. Jermar Jefferson gained 119 yards on 15 carries in the Beavers' effort. Trevon Bradford led the Beavers in receiving with four catches for 62 yards, and Isaiah Hodgins had three grabs for 45 yards and a score.

STANFORD CARDINAL at UCLA BRUINS
What: The Cardinal renew their rivalry with the Bruins in Los Angeles.
When: Saturday, November 24 at 12 p.m.
Where: Rose Bowl; Pasadena, California.
Television: Pac-12 Networks.
Cardinal Radio Stream: Cardinal Sports Network.
2018 Records: Cardinal 6-4 (4-2 Pac-12 North); Bruins 3-8 (3-5 Pac-12 South).
Head Coaches (overall as HC): Cardinal - David Shaw (79-26); Bruins - Chip Kelly (49-15).
2017: The Cardinal defeated the Bruins, 58-34, at Palo Alto.
Cardinal Notes: Stanford is bowl bound for the 10th straight year, and have made it to the post-season in each of David Shaw's eight years as head coach. Their rivalry game last week at Cal (The Big Game) was postponed do Dec. 1 due to poor air quality due to wildfires in Northern California. In the Cardinal's 48-17 win over Oregon St. in week 11, K.J. Costello completed 23 of 33 passes for 342 yards and four touchdowns with an interception. Tight End Colby Parkinson was outstanding, catching all of his school-tying four touchdowns in the first half en route to his six catches for 166 yards against the Beavers. Trenton Irwin hauled in six passes for 70 yards. Bryce Love had his best game in nearly two months, rushing 11 times for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Bruins Notes: Under their first season with Chip Kelly as head coach, the Bruins have definitely had their struggles. Of course, that's to be expected during a rebuilding phase. The Bruins are one of two Pac-12 teams guaranteed to not make a bowl game this season (Oregon St. is the other). The highlight of their season thus far has to be last week's rivalry win over USC at Pasadena. The loss at least temporarily prevented the Trojans from becoming bowl eligible. Joshua Kelley was a workhorse in the 34-27 win, rushing 40 times for an outstanding 289 yards and two touchdowns. Wilton Speight went 13 of 22 passing for 166 yards with a touchdown and a pick, Theo Howard added five catches for 76 yards and a score, while Caleb Wilson had six grabs for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Additional Note: Wildfires have devastated Northern California over the past few weeks. At this writing, over 1,300 persons are still considered missing, and tens of thousands of persons are displaced from their homes. Of an extremely lesser degree, The Big Game between Stanford and Cal was postponed from Nov. 17 to Dec. due to poor air quality due to the fires. COLORADO BUFFALOES at CALIFORNIA GOLDEN BEARS
What: It's an inter-divisional battle as the Buffaloes face the Golden Bears.
When: Saturday, November 24 at 4 p.m.
Where: California Memorial Stadium; Berkeley, California.
Television: Pac-12 Networks.
Cardinal Radio Stream: Cardinal Sports Network.
Golden Bears Radio Stream: KGO 810.
2018 Records: Buffaloes 5-6 (2-6 Pac-12 South); Golden Bears 6-4 (3-4 Pac-12 North).
Head Coaches (overall as HC): Buffaloes - Kurt Roper, interim (0-0); Golden Bears - Justin Wilcox (11-11).
2017: The Buffaloes defeated the Golden Bears, 44-28, at Boulder.
Buffaloes Notes: Less than two years removed from appearing in the Pac-12 Championship Game, the Buffaloes seem to be in disarray. Following their sixth straight loss last week, the school fired head coach Mike MacIntyre and replaced him on an interim basis with quarterbacks coach Kurt Roper. MacIntyre was the 2016 national coach of the year. A win in this game makes the Buffaloes bowl eligible. Utah bested the Buffaloes, 30-7, in their snowy rivalry game last week, known as the Rumble in the Rockies. Steven Montez completed 12 of 22 passes for 84 yards and an interception in the loss. Travon McMillian rushed 13 times for 41 yards and a touchdown in the loss, while Laviska Shenault, Jr. caught nine balls for 64 yards. One of the most notable historical Buffalo players was Byron "Whizzer" White, who would go on to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Golden Bears Notes: The Golden Bears are going bowling for the first time since 2015 after stunning USC at Los Angeles two weeks ago. Their defense has shone all season long and will provide a formidable challenge for a struggling Colorado offense. Cal is an emerging squad in the Pac-12, having recorded not only the win over the Trojans, but a 12-10 over Washington. Their rivalry game last week against Stanford (The Big Game) was postponed do Dec. 1 at noon due to poor air quality due to wildfires in Northern California. Chase Garbers went 21 of 34 for 180 yards with two touchdowns and a pick. Patrick Laird, who still has a shot at a 1,000-yard rushing season, rushed 19 yards for 71 yards, and Vic Wharton III added two receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown against USC. Cal is .500 since Justin Wilcox took over as head coach prior to last season.
UTAH ST. AGGIES at BOISE ST. BULLDOGS
What: The Mountain West's Mountain Division title is up for grabs as the Aggies visit the Broncos.
When: Saturday, November 24 at 7:15 p.m.
Where: Albertson's Stadium; Boise, Idaho.
Television: ESPN.
Radio Stream: KBOI.
2018 Records: Aggies 10-1 (7-0 Mountain West); Broncos 9-2 (6-1 Mountain West).
Head Coaches (overall as HC): Aggies - Matt Wells (44-33); Broncos - Bryan Harsin (57-18).
2017: The Broncos defeated the Aggies, 41-14, at Logan, Utah.
Aggies Notes: If the Aggies can come into Idaho's capital and capture a victory over the Broncos, they will finish with a perfect 8-0 record in Mountain West play, and with just a single loss in 12 games. That should secure them home field advantage in the conference championship game against Fresno St., which has clinched the West Division's berth in the title game (see note below). The Aggies escaped with a 29-24 win over Colorado St. in week 12. Jordan Love was 15 of 24 for 169 yards with a touchdown against the Rams. Gerold Bright gained 89 yards on 13 carries, while Darwin Thompson added 13 carries for 48 yards. Ron'quavion Tarver led the receiving group with six catches for 69 yards, and Aaren Vaughns added a pair of receptions for 49 yards and a score for the Aggies.
Broncos Notes: The Broncos are looking to repeat as MW Conference Mountain Division champions. Should they turn back the Aggies, they would end with identical 7-1 conference records, but the Broncos would win the tiebreaker. They likely would host the conference title game (see note below), but the first step is to win this one. Should they make that game, they would face Fresno St. for the second straight year. The Broncos are coming off a dominating 45-14 win at New Mexico last week. Sean Modster caught three touchdowns in the win, in addition to his nine receptions for 129 yards. He was Brett Rypien's favorite target, as the senior quarterback went 17 of 27 for 222 yards with all three of those scores going to Modster. Alexander Mattison rushed 20 times for 145 yards and a score for the Broncos.
MW Conference Note: The location of the Mountain West Conference Championship game is determined by the higher BCS ranked team between the winners of the conference's two divisions following the end of the regular season. For instance, last season, Fresno St. defeated Boise St. during the season but, since the Broncos were ranked higher in the BCS, they hosted the conference title game. Coming into week 13, Utah St. is ranked 23rd, Boise St. is 25th and Fresno St. is unranked. The winner of this one likely will increase their national ranking which means most likely, the winner of this game will host the Mountain West Conference Championship Game next week.
