Welcome to SCtoC's coverage of the Eastern Washington Eagles' march through the Football Championship Series playoffs.
Each Eagles game will be previewed here with this serving as the game thread. Included will be scoring updates and stat summaries following each quarter, and at the end of the game.
We've also provided links to the official twitter accounts of each team in each match up. Often those accounts will have additional updates leading up to, during and after the games.
All times are pacific time. Times and broadcast information could be subject to change.
FCS PLAYOFFS - ROUND 2:
NICHOLLS ST. COLONELS at EASTERN WASHINGTON EAGLES
What: The Eagles first playoff test of 2018 comes at home against the Colonels.
When: Saturday, December 1 at 2 p.m.
Where: Roos Field; Cheney, Washington.
Television: Stream on ESPN3.
Radio Stream: 700 ESPN.
2018 Records: Colonels 9-3 (7-2 Southland); Eagles 9-2 (7-1 Big Sky).
Head Coaches (overall as HC): Colonels - Tim Rebowe (25-21); Eagles - Aaron Best (14-6).
Playoffs: The Colonels defeated San Diego, 49-30, in round 1. This is the first game of the playoffs for the Eagles.
Colonels Notes: Nicholls St. finished its regular season with a 7-2 record, which landed them atop the Southland Conference standings. Including the playoffs, they have won five straight. The Colonels are locate in Thibodaux, Louisiana and are 3-3 in away games this season. They feature a balanced run/pass attack on offense. That unit is led by quarterback Chase Fourcade. He went 21 of 31 for 337 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the Colonels' round 1 win over San Diego. He added 15 rushes for 82 yards and a pair of scores. Dontrell Taylor gained 124 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns of his own. Damion Jeanpiere, Jr. hauled in seven passes for 143 yards and a touchdown in the win, while Tahj Smith added two receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Eagles Notes: Eastern Washington comes in as co-Big Sky champions along with UC Davis and Weber St. All three teams ended with 7-1 conference records and 9-2 records overall. The Eagles defeated UC Davis this season, but fell to Weber St. The Eagles are a recent perennial post-season participant, with the exception of last season. As the third seed, they are prepared to do some playoff damage. Eric Barriere has been solid at quarterback for the Eagles. In their season finale rout of Portland St. (74-23), he tossed five touchdowns while completing 15 of 27 yards for 216 yards. He also rushed six times for 99 yards and a score. Sam McPherson rushed six times for 133 yards and caught three passes for 39 yards and a touchdown. Nsimba Webster caught five passes for 96 yards and a score in the win.
