ANALYSIS
Heading into week 9 of the IFL season, there should be no secrets between these two teams. A last-minute touchdown lifted the Blizzard past the Danger, 53-52, in week 2. Last week, in the first of this back-to-back, the Blizzard held off the Danger to win their fourth straight. The Danger are in a relatively good position to return to the playoffs, but winning this game at home and getting back to .500 could be significant as they make their push in the second half of the season. Having home field advantage will be important for the Danger, who have lost three of their four games by six points or less. The Blizzard can win their fifth straight game for the first time since early during the 2012 season. They are experiencing a resurgence after plowing through six straight losing seasons. The upward trend is something which is making the rest of the league take notice. Green Bay has won four straight over Nebraska and lead the overall series, 8-5.
Lenorris Footman did not start in the season opener, but he's been at the helm since the first quarter of that game and has led the Blizzard to their 5-2 record. His passing numbers have improved over the course of the season as he is completing 50.6 percent of his throws for 861 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has not thrown a pick in the past three games.Footman is first in the league with 61.3 rushing yards per game and tied for second with 12 rushing scores. Footman will take the bulk of the carries, with Rameses Owens and B.J. Hill getting some rushes as well. Hill has 27 catches for 311 yards and four touchdowns. Keshaun Taylor comes in with 23 receptions for 240 yards and three scores, while Kezlow Smith leads the group with five touchdowns through the air. Joe Powell heads up the Green Bay defense with 47 tackles, five tackles for loss and an interception. Dayshawn Taylor has tallied 41 tackles. Bakari Triggs leads the IFL with four interceptions, while Marquez Gollman adds a pair of interceptions to his 39 tackles. Deldrick Canty and Truett Box have three and 2.5 sacks, respectively. Edward Ruhnke was impressive in his Green Bay debut last week, converting all seven of his extra point tries and hit a 33-yard field goal in the Blizzard's win over the Danger last week.
As noted above, the Danger are in the thick of the playoff race and are looking to return to the post-season with some momentum. They'll put their chances in the hands of former Nebraska Cornhusker signal caller Tommy Armstrong, Jr. He comes in with a 59.1 completion percentage for 909 yards with 19 touchdowns and four interceptions. He is second to Footman in the IFL with 57.1 rushing yards and first with 14 rushing touchdowns. Davonte Sapp-Lynch adds 45.9 yards on the ground and is tied for second with 12 rushing touchdowns. Sapp-Lynch also has 16 caches for 114 yards. Eric Thomas has 24 receptions for 256 yards with seven touchdowns while Gregory Dent, Jr. adds 19 grabs for 221 yards and a half-dozen touchdowns. Quincy Walden is a threat through on the ground, through the air and in the kick return game; he's scored in all three facets this season. Najee Bright's 31 tackles and a fumble recovery to lead the Danger defense. Chris Martin is third in the league with 3.5 sacks to go along with his 27 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and three pass break ups. Steffon Herd and Lavarious Varnado each have 26 tackles, while the latter adds an interception. Brandon Roe has picked off three passes. With Jeremy Reynolds on short-term IR the team has signed Brendan Hanaphy as its new kicker.
