BREAKDOWN
This game features two teams in the driver's seat for a home playoff game. Simply put if the Blizzard win their remaining five games, they will all but ensure themselves of the third seed in the playoffs given that they would own a tiebreaker over the Storm. It likely would not be enough for a first round bye, but that position would ensure them a home game in the opening round against the sixth seed. The Storm, on the other hand, are very much in play for the second seed and a bye in the first round with a home game in the conference finals. To accomplish that, they would need to win their remaining five games, including this one and their June 8 meeting against the Iowa Barnstormers in Des Moines. They already have defeated Iowa once this season, 36-32 on April 20 in Sioux Falls. A victory over the Storm in this game would give the Blizzard seven wins; their most since the 2012 season. They rank fourth in the IFL in rush defense at 97.2 yards per game. The Storm lead the league in rush defense with 63.0 yards allowed per game. Sioux Falls possesses the second-ranked scoring offense in the league. This is the 21st all-time meeting between the teams, and it has been one-sided with the Storm winning all 20 of those previous meetings (19 in the regular season and one in the playoffs.
Lenorris Footman has been solid this season, and has engineered his team to four last-minute wins this year as a rookie. He is completing 52.6 percent of his passes for 1,172 yards with 19 touchdowns and six interceptions. Footman leads the IFL with 59.7 rushing yards per game and has scored 13 times on the ground. Rameses Owens is a bullish runner who comes in at 5.1 yards per carry and nine rushing touchdowns. B.J. Hill, already a Hall of Famer, has 31 receptions for 373 yards with six touchdowns. Keshawn Taylor had caught 28 passes for 303 yards and four scores, while Kezlow Smith has 22 grabs for 250 yards and seven touchdowns. Levi Copelin, with a pair of touchdowns to his credit, rounds out the four-man receiving group. As a team, the Blizzard have 37 tackles for loss. The defense is led by the 51 tackles of Dayshawn Taylor, who also has 4.5 tackles for loss. Joe Powell adds 47 tackles with five tackles for loss. Deldrick Canty leads the team with four sacks, while Silverberry Mouhon has two sacks and leads the team with seven tackles for loss. Bakari Triggs has intercepted four balls on the season. Edward Ruhnke, who will appear in his fourth game with the Blizzard, is 17 of 20 on extra point attempts and has hit a field goal of 35 yards this season.
Lorenzo Brown, Jr. is a steady IFL veteran has been in playoff races before and will look to put his team in the best possible chance for a first round bye. He is third in the IFL with 165.0 passing yards per game and has a third-best 30 touchdown passes. He is completing 62.8 percent of his passes and has five picks. Brown also has 89 rushes for 258 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. Calen Campbell comes in averaging 38.2 rushing yards per game and has nine touchdowns on the ground. Darrian Miller also could see some carries. Brandon Sheperd's 69.7 receiving yards per game are good for second in the IFL, and his is tied for fourth with 11 touchdown receptions. Damian Ford has 435 receiving yards and is tied for fourth with 11 touchdown grabs, and Kent Shelby has 271 yards through the air with seven touchdowns. T.J. Neal leads the defense with 45 tackles and has three tackles for loss, while Charles Williams has 38 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss. Claude Davis leads the team with six tackles for loss and has 1.5 sacks, and Malcolm Goines has a pair of sacks for the defense. Parker Douglass, who will be appearing in his fourth game with the Storm, is 16 of 19 on extra point attempts and three of five on field goal tries with a long of 37 yards.
