Overview
The following is the 2020 schedule for the Iowa Barnstormers.
After the Barnstormers came away with the 2018 United Bowl Championship, they were back in the hunt last season. They earned the second seed in the playoffs which meant a bye in the First Round and a home match up against the Sioux Falls Storm. Their repeat attempt was halted when the Storm overtook them to advance to the United Bowl against the Arizona Rattlers. Over the off season, there was a coaching change as Dixie Wooten departed and took the head coaching spot of the Tucson Sugar Skulls. The Barnstormers are definitely bound for a retooling, but will have an opportunity to grab one of the eight playoff spots.
The Barnstormers have a bye opening week of the season and will visit the expansion Oakland Panthers to open their season on March 14th. Their home opener isn't until April 3 when they host the familiar Green Bay Blizzard. Three of their four games in April are at home. They close out the season against the Storm in Des Moines. The Barnstormers have a two-game homestand in May, followed by two straight on the road. Iowa does not face the Duke City Gladiators, San Diego Strike Force nor Tucson Sugar Skulls this season.
Each IFL team plays 14 games (seven home and seven away), and has three bye weeks. The Barnstormers have byes in in Weeks 1, 3 and 12. They play their home games at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Ameer Ismail has taken over for Wooten as the team's head coach.
All Barnstormers games will be broadcast locally on the radio and will be available for streaming through those stations. SCtoC will provide links in its previews of the games, as well as recaps of each IFL game. Broadcast information for each game is forthcoming and will be updated on this page when available.
Below is the Barnstormers 2020 schedule. Home games are noted in bold yellow. Times and dates are subject to change. All times are pacific. Click on the final score for the boxscore and Recap for SCtoC's original recap of this game.
