BREAKDOWN
STRIKE FORCE
The Strike Force struggled during their expansion 2019 season. A large part of that was getting a late start. Head coach Burt Grossman wasn't hired until late in the fall, thus delaying the team its opportunity to get an early start in the free agency market. Despite their 1-13 record, the team showed definite improvement over the course of the season. Now, with a sleek new look and a full off season, Grossman has dutifully put together a roster which should provide some excitement. It all starts with the re-signing of wide receiver and kick returner Marques Rodgers, who blew away the competition with 2,229 all-purpose yards. Rodgers experience in the IFL will be invaluable as he leads the Strike Force into its second season Rookie Isaiah Bernard likely will line up opposite Rodgers. San Diego had three quarterbacks on their training camp roster. Odds are Michael Carrillo will get the start, though Rudy Johnson and Quinn McQueary were also in camp. The team signed former Cedar Rapids River King Nate Chavious to power its running attack. E.J. Johnson and Micah Eugene, Jr. should lead the backfield, and the team added playmaking rookie Jarmaine Doubs as well. Much of the rest of the training camp roster was filled out with experience players from the likes of the CFL, AAF, NAL and AFL, so there should be a chance for Grossman, a former defensive lineman for the NFL's Chargers, to build a defensive squad with some experience under its belt. Sure-legged veteran kicker Erneso Lacayo was resigned, but left the team for the opportunity to play with the Seattle Dragons of the XFL.

BUCKS
It was not an easy adjustment for the Bucks last season, their first in the IFL, after moving from the CIF the previous season. Injuries at several positions, including quarterback and wide receiver, hampered the team all season long. Rod Miller returns as head coach, and has assembled an assistant coaching staff who hope to get the Bucks headed in the right direction in 2020. They have their collective work cut out for them, but with some standout performances during their second season in the league, they could see themselves in the thick of the playoff race late in the season. Eight of the 13 IFL teams qualify for the playoffs, which could open up the opportunity for the Bucks to be playing past week 17. Tasleem Wilson, who came in at the end of last season is the lone returning quarterback. He and Richard Stammetti were the only two signal callers on the training camp rosters and either, or both, could see time in the season opener. Eric Lauderdale and Ricardo Johnson should give either passer some opportunities to move the ball down the field, and former Quad City Steamwheeler Darius Hicks could fill out that roster. Preston Hamlette was impressive at times last season. Hamlette is old-school in that he can play on both sides of the ball as a running back and a linebacker. LaTreze Mushatt was a reliable defensive lineman who should anchor the line to provide pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Malik Brown and Deion Carter are back to patrol the defensive backfield, and Cameron Hall at linebacker can be disruptive. Veteran Cody Barber comes back to take on the kicking duties for the Bucks in 2020.
BUCKS 2019 LEADERS
