The following is the complete schedule for the 2021 Canadian Football League season.
After seeing the entirety of its 2020 season lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CFL looks to rebound and for what the league is calling its "comeback" season.
Unlike in previous years, the league is focusing more on divisional based games, adding an additional divisional match-up per team. According to the CFL, although every team plays each other at least once, there will be some teams that won't travel to certain stadiums in 2021. As a safety net, it limits certain cross country travel for some teams due to the uncertain future involving COVID-19. The league is also looking at it as making more divisional matchups more meaningful, especially in the push for the playoffs.
Since no Grey Cup Champion was crowned in 2020, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers enter the 2021 Season seeking to defend their 2019 Grey Cup Championship. The Blue Bombers won their 11th Grey Cup title that season, marking their first championship since the 1990 CFL season. The Blue Bomebers look to retain their Grey Cup Championship and reach back-to-back Grey Cup Championships for the first time since 1992-93.
This season will also mark the first season of a new identity in Edmonton. The team formally known as the Eskimos, now known as the Edmonton Elks, saw its name dropped on July 21st, 2020 and rebranded temporarily as the Edmonton Football Team. The name change was a result of controversy and criticism around the "Eskimo" name as a racial slur against the Inuit in Canada. The move happened shortly after the NFL's Washington Football Team dropped the "Redskins" name in wake of the George Floyd protests.
Four teams, including Edmonton, BC Lions, Ottawa Redblacks and Toronto Argonauts, went through coaching changes after the 2019 season and look to begin new eras in 2021.
The CFL regular season spans from mid June to early November and consists of 18 games over the course of 21 weeks. All 9 teams will have three bye weeks. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts will have to play 3 games in the span 11 days, including two games in Week 13.
The 2021 season will kick off on June 10th with the defending champion Blue Bombers hosting the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a rematch of the 107th Grey Cup. Other highlights include a full slate of games over Labor Day Weekend, and the return of Thanksgiving football when the Ottawa Redblacks take on the Montreal Alouettes on October 11th (Canadian Thanksgiving).
The CFL Playoffs will begin with the Division Semifinals on Sunday, November 7 and the Division Finals on Sunday, November 14th. The 108th Grey Cup will be played on Sunday, November 21st at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario.
Each week's games will appear most recent at the top of the post. Final results will be updated following the conclusion of the games and listed in ascending order. Where applicable, click on the final score to view the CFL's game tracker for the complete box score.
All CFL games, including the playoffs and the Grey Cup, will be streamed across Canada on TSN. In the United States, 20 CFL games will be aired on the ESPN family of networks, including all the Division Semifinals, the Division Finals, and the 108th Grey Cup. All other games will be streamed on ESPN+.
