Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays SCtoC! Being that it is the holiday season, I, Spiderfan have a special rapid fire thoughts as a stocking stuffer for ya. Let us begin!
Rapid Fire Thoughts:
-If Marcus Mariota had been the QB of the Raiders this season, they would have made the playoffs.
-Congratulations to the Buffalo Bills and their fan base on their first AFC East division title since 1995!
-What are the odds that the Texans in both of their games against the Colts would lose on a last second fumble?
-The Bears are still alive in the playoff race? Maybe Matt Nagy won't get fired after all.
-The New England Patriots are not going to the playoffs for the first time since 2008 and won't have a winning record for the first time since 2000. What do 2000, 2008, and 2020 all have in common? Tom Brady wasn't starting for the Patriots.
-Speaking of Tom Brady, I know I have said this before, but I'll again: He still has got it.
-Dez Bryant still has it too. His TD catch might be might favorite moment of the 2020 season thus far.
-Y'know who doesn't still have it? Ben Roethlisberger. Funny that on the same day that he announces he won't retire, he plays like he needs to retire.
-Even with Big Ben's poor play, the Steelers-Bengals game on Monday Night Football is a reminder that is why they play the games. Because ya never truly know who is going to win and who is going to lose. Congrats Bengals!
-Speaking of poor play, Dwayne Haskins kept the NFC East alive. Alex Smith can't come back fast enough for the Football Team.
-The Eagles waited too long to bench Carson Wentz and that will cost their season and possibly the management and coaching staffs jobs.
-Despite the score, the Chiefs-Saints game wasn't all that close. The Chiefs are just in a whole other league compared to everyone else.
-The Believeland Browns have 10 wins. 2020 folks.
The Trevor Lawrence Sweepstakes!
I said last week that I would be surprised if the New York Jets didn't go 0-16. Well, I'm surprised all right. The Jets had the upset of the season against the Rams and now are no longer the front runners for #1 pick and the Trevor Lawrence Sweepstakes. That title now belongs to the Jacksonville Jaguars who despite putting in mustachioed flash in the pan Gardner Minshew as an apparent anti-tanking measure in an attempt for Doug Marrone to save his job were completely obliterated by the Ravens.
The Jets win means that the Jaguars have to end the season with a better record, or else the Jets who have been tanking all year for Trevor Lawrence will have failed in their mission. The final 2 weeks will be fun to watch to see who wins the Trevor Lawrence Sweepstakes.
Who Wants the #1 Seed?
Right now the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers are still the #1 seeds in the AFC and NFC respectively. All the Chiefs have to do is win 1 of their next 2 games (their opponents being the Falcons and Chargers) to clinch the #1 seed and home field for the AFC playoffs. The Packers meanwhile have to win their next 2 games (their opponents being the Titans and Bears) to clinch the #1 seed and home field for the NFC playoffs. Right now I still expect the Chiefs and Packers to be the #1 seed in their respective conferences.
Well that is all for this week's Web of Football. I know this one was WAY less than shorter than usual, but I hope ya still enjoyed it and I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday season! This is spiderfan out.
