Breakdown
PIRATES OVERVIEW
The Pirates made a splash in their IFL debut with their 49-18 win over the Louisville Xtreme in last week's season opener. Justin Stockton was named IFL Offensive Player of the Week for his 82 yards rushing with a score, and the Pirates may have found an emerging receiver in Thomas Owens, who hauled in a trio of touchdown scores off just five receptions. Stockton and Owens should be players to watch in this game, and during the season. Sean Brackett started the game at quarterback, but was replaced in the second quarter by Alejandro Bennifield. No reason was given for the switch, though Bennifield did toss three touchdown passes. Former NFL receivers Martavis Bryant and Terrance Williams should be players to watch throughout the course of the season. Massachusetts' defense tormented Louisville's offense last week, forcing a total of four fumbles; three of which occurred in the first quarter. Willie Yarbary and J.D. Griggs each has already notched a sack this year, and Griggs returned a fumble for a touchdown in that first quarter. Gabriel Rui was perfect on all seven of his extra point attempts in week 1.
PIRATES 2021 LEADERS
Passing: Alejandro Bennifield 4/9, 88 yds, 3 TD, int
Rushing: Justin Stockton 11 rush, 82 yds, TD
Receiving: Thomas Owens 5 rec, 94 yds, 3 TD
Total Tackles: Santos Ramirez/Martrell Spaight 7

Interceptions: none
Kicking: Gabriel Rui 7/7 PAT, 0/2 FG
BLIZZARD OVERVIEW
The Blizzard had a disappointing finish to their season opener as the fell to the Bismarck Bucks when the Bucks scored the game-winning touchdown with 6.8 seconds left. Veteran indoor football quarterback Aaron Akin took the reigns for the Blizzard. He looked good at times, tossing a pair of touchdown passes and leading the team in rushing, but he tossed a couple of interceptions while completing just 47.8 percent of his passes. Green Bay has a solid receiving corps with Keshaun Taylor and .Kezlow Smith. As they get more acquainted with Aiken, fans should see some outstanding plays on the offensive side of the ball. Ramses Owens is also capable of either breaking a big play on the ground or bulling himself into the end zone in the rushing game. Mason Gray had a pair of interceptions in the opener against the Bucks, and earned IFL Defensive Player of the Week honors for the effort. Trevon Saunders was named IFL Special Teams Player of the week after returning six kickoffs for 89 yards with a ling of 18 yards against the Bucks. Henry Nell converted on two of five point after attempts, but nailed a field goal of 38 yards.
