Breakdown
XTREME
Louisville has been getting better each and every game they have played. They lost a hard-fought contest last week to the IFL's perennial champion Sioux Falls Storm by just six points, and scored their highest point total in the season, 43 points, in the contest. Mark Stoute's group will look to avenge their franchise-opening loss in week 1 to the Pirates to pick up their first win of the season. The team has seemed to settle in on Oliver Dalton as their starter at quarterback. He's completing 58.3 percent of his passes for 568 yards with 12 touchdowns and three interceptions. In order to compete two-dimensionally on offense, the team will need to add to it's rushing pedigree as no player has more than 79 yards through four games. Todd Athey leads all receivers with a half-dozen scoring grabs, and Edgar Poe comes in with four of his own. Kyree McLean leads the team with 18 tackles and has three pass break ups, while Cameron Hall comes in with a pair of sacks. McLean and Ellis Lankster have the Xtreme's two interceptions this season.
PIRATES
Since their first meeting with the Xtreme, the Pirates split a couple road games before falling to the Spokane Shock in their home opener in week 5. The Pirates will look to right their ship at home against a Louisville team which, while they handled by a 49-18 margin, has improved in each of their four games on the year. There is no doubt Massachusetts has some of the best talent in the IFL, including a pair of former NFL receivers. Alejandro Bennifield is established as the starter and has, for the most part, been effective. However, Bennifield went down with an injury two weeks ago, so it's possible indoor football veteran Sean Brackett will get the start in this game. Justin Stockton is a solid back who can cause problems for opposing defenses in both the rushing and passing games. Terrence Williams and Thomas Owens seem to be the breakout receivers thus far in 2021. Martrell Spaight leads the team in tackles and sacks. Viewers should also take note of J.D. Griggs, Tavaris Dantzler and Khalid Wooten on the defensive side of the ball.
