Rattlers 41, Blizzard 34

GREEN BAY, WI - The Arizona Rattlers rushed out to a 27-0 halftime lead and held off a late Green Bay Blizzard rally to earn their second win of the season tonight at the Resch Center.
The 41-34 win improves the Rattlers to 2-1 on the season, while the Blizzard fell to 3-3 after losing their second straight.
Arizona scored on its opening possession, capping a one-yard run from Drew Powell. They added another score in just under two minutes later on Nick LaSane's four-yard run. The Rattlers led 13-0 after one quarter.
A pair of two yard runs from Jamal Miles in the second quarter accounted for the Rattlers 27-0 lead at the half.
Green Bay's offense got going at the beginning of the third quarter. The Blizzard got on the board courtesy a 37-yard run from Kerrion Moore just over a minute into the quarter. Powell put the Rattlers up 34-7 with a one-yard run with 8:38 left. Damion May's 13-yard touchdown to Moore cut the lead to 20 before Powell scored for the Rattlers on a 10-yard run. Treyvon Saunders returned the ensuing kickoff 56 yards at the 1:15 mark, giving the making the score 41-21 heading into the final quarter.
May found Taylor for a 19-yard touchdown midway through the final quarter to make the score 41-28. They cut into the lead even further at the one-minute warning on May's 22-yard pass to Moore. The Rattlers were then able to run out the clock to preserve the win.
Powell finished 15 of 22 for 131 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He rushed 15 times for 109 yards and three more scores. Jamal Miles caught six balls for 35 yards and a score. Larry Tharpe, Jr. led the Rattlers with nine tackles. Tyrell Pearson added an interception and Nikolas D'Avanzo recorded a sack.
May went 17 of 25 for 149 yards with three touchdowns and a pick, and added a score on the ground. Moore had 43 yards on eight rushes with a score on the ground and two through the air. Taylor led all receivers with seven catches for 77 yards. Bakari Triggs' 10 tackles and interception paced the Blizzard defense. Corey Turner and Diondre Wallace added nine and eight tackles, respectively.
The Rattlers are next up on June 12 when they host their in-state rival the Tucson Sugar Skulls at 6:05 p.m. The Blizzard are on the road when they visit the Louisville Xtreme on June 12 with a 4:05 p.m. kickoff.
