The following is the complete revised schedule for the 2021 Canadian Football League season.
After seeing the entirety of its 2020 season lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CFL looks to rebound and for what the league is calling its "comeback" season.
On June 14th, the CFL's Board of Governors a reduced 14-game schedule (down from the standard 18 games) for the CFL to return after not playing in 2020.
Since no Grey Cup Champion was crowned in 2020, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers enter the 2021 Season seeking to defend their 2019 Grey Cup Championship. The Blue Bombers won their 11th Grey Cup title that season, marking their first championship since the 1990 CFL season. The Blue Bombers look to retain their Grey Cup Championship and reach back-to-back Grey Cup Championships for the first time since 1992-93.
This season will also mark the first season of a new identity in Edmonton. The team formally known as the Eskimos, now known as the Edmonton Elks, saw its name dropped on July 21st, 2020 and rebranded temporarily as the Edmonton Football Team. The name change was a result of controversy and criticism around the "Eskimo" name as a racial slur against the Inuit in Canada. The move happened shortly after the NFL's Washington Football Team dropped the "Redskins" name in wake of the George Floyd protests.
Four teams, including the Elks, BC Lions, Ottawa Redblacks and Toronto Argonauts, went through coaching changes after the 2019 season and look to begin new eras in 2021.
The CFL regular season normally spans from mid June to early November and consists of 18 games over the course of 21 weeks. However, due to the reduced schedule, the 20201 CFL season will span from early August to late November, consisting of 14 games over the course of 16 weeks.
The first game of the schedule kick off Thursday, August 5th as the Blue Bombers host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a rematch of the 107th Grey Cup, 620 days after the game took place. Other highlights include a full slate of games over Labor Day Weekend, and the return of Thanksgiving football doubleheader when the Ottawa Redblacks take on the Montreal Alouettes, followed by Toronto facing off against Hamilton on October 11th (Canadian Thanksgiving).
7 of the 9 teams will have two bye weeks, with the exception of Ottawa and Toronto. Both Ontario based teams will have 3 bye weeks, a consequence of playing two games each during Week 10.
The CFL Playoffs will begin with the Division Semifinals on Sunday, November 28th and the Division Finals on Sunday, December 5th. The 108th Grey Cup will be played on Sunday, December 12th at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario.
Each week's games will appear most recent at the top of the post. Final results will be updated following the conclusion of the games and listed in ascending order. Where applicable, click on the final score to view the CFL's game tracker for the complete box score.
All CFL games, including the playoffs and the Grey Cup, will be streamed across Canada on TSN. In the United States, 17 CFL games will be aired on the ESPN family of networks, including all the Division Semifinals, the Division Finals, and the 108th Grey Cup. All other games will be streamed on ESPN+.
